Hacking Question Will Switch piracy be possible? If it is, will it work like the 3DS/Wii U

Hi, I'm from the future. There we have fully hacked Switch and installing games on SD. So be patient few more years...
Tell me how the next Zelda game is gonna be? Or have we met a terrible fate..

Sadly, but after the death of Eiji Aonuma, when North Korea launched a nuclear weapon on Japan, they decided not to continue Zelda franchise... They just had time to release Skyward Sword HD on WiiVC. Though the Pokemon Stars is awesome!

why do people make posts asking stupid questions.

if the switch is hacked and runs piracy will it be like 3ds/wii u..... if its hacked and runs piracy then yes, in the form of a flash card, maybe it sd card or usb hdd.

can dreamers stop asking stupid questions and just wait for what develops.

if i remember we were able to play all titles before the lv0 hack was released through patched eboot files and CFW patching in the new syscalls
lv0 just made it easier for scene release groups ,but it was a very late in the game development ,like B9s is to the 3Ds scene

also i thought that efuses are just for preventing FW downgrading

the xbox360 used them and i thought hr PSP did too (but i might be wrong about this)

also how many consoles released to date have successfully stopped "piracy"
by my count , 1 ,besides the switch
xboxone is the only one afaik , ps4 has it sort of
every other console also has a way to play backups
efuses also check that the current FW is signed, you would need to be able to decrypt and encrypt a CFW which you can only do if you have the lv0 keys. Otherwise you would blow a tamper fuse and brick your Switch.

Piracy isn't really the issue, you could easily see piracy on Switch but like the PS4 and Vita the problem is the crypto on the games post 3.0.0. You need the new keys on the higher FW to decrypt the games, which means you need a hack on the higher FW in the first place. Or you need a lv0 on the lower FW to decrypt and encrypt a CFW. Efuses just make the job that much harder as any mistake and boom, bricked Switch.

Either is possible, but it will take alot of work and alot of useless burned out Switches first, I can't see many hackers willing to lay down the cash to brick their way through to the end problem so they will have to go pretty slow. Or find another way ofc, something akin to the brazilian method but that's also highly unlikely now due to crypto and no nus.

right now one hacker has kernel access on the switch correct? assuming he can eventually crack open whatever sys ver. he's on and keep the kernel access regardless of system version, couldn't he update his console and then use the kernel hacks he already has to get the crypto on higher FW?

It all depends if his software and his access will work on newer firmware. It's not so easy just to install and update always.

No. You can patch a kernel, so there's no guarantee that your exploit will work ad infinitum. This is why he's not publishing it, the moment he does is the moment its patched (if it isn't already). Whatever is found on whatever version he has, if patched, will be exclusive to that version and lower. It doesn't solve any of the major crypto problems that restrict game piracy.

In fact, kernel exploits are rare and valuable. They don't happen often and the opportunity for them gets smaller and harder as patches roll over old bugs. In many ways, the hacking community also helps the security engineers build a more secure system over time. Many times, a kernel exploit is so valuable that it will never be released beyond a select group.

There's actually a fairly funny parallel about this going on at this very moment: Sony does not know what the kernel exploit is on 4.x and 5.x, but they keep patching trying to close it and it keeps getting opened. 5.3 was a patch to 5.1, but there's no indication that Sony knows what they are patching. Sony is also hated by most any one in any hacking scene for their bullshit around the PS3. On the other hand, Nintendo has HackerOne working for them and they have never really done anything to the hacking scene to drive animosity other than the usual cat-and-mouse patching game, and so people are willing to report bugs/exploits for compensation, so called White Hat Hackers. The moment qlutoo releases his kexploit, is the moment anyone with suitable skills would be able to reproduce it and report it for a potentially large cash payout.

Its actually potentially more worthwhile for him to report his own kexploit rather than release it publicly, since he could make a lot of money. If he just blanket releases it or a guide to it, someone else could also report it for a payout in his stead.

no Nintendo is not going to pay anything for a publically released exploit
i am sure they do not cut you a check right away i bet they take a year or more to pay anyone for an exploit
by the time they are ready to pay out it will already be known as public , i highly doubt they are going to cut a check the next day
i bet it takes months to get paid
