Hi,

I need help with my 3ds. I followed the guide on 3ds guide website. Everything was working. I was able to play a backup game. I also downloaded and installed a new theme.

The batteries died on the 3ds. I charged it and when I turn it on both screens stay dark.

I am able to launch the Luma3DS configuration menu and God Mode. The system doesn't boot Luma3DS CFW SysNAND.

I tried to take out the sd card, the red light flashes one time and nothing happens.

Thank you!

Try a CTR transfer using Decrypt9. Follow https://3ds.guide/ctrtransfer but use Decrypt9 instead (the options will be different but you can probably work it out). Decrypt9 is at https://github.com/d0k3/Decrypt9/releases

Pretty sure it's the theme you installed. It most likely corrupted the home menu cache.

Also, you can install Luma to your NAND with GM9. After doing so you can boot without your SD.

Thanks for the help. I followed the instructions. Deleted the folder 05 and still have the same issue.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Sorry I am confused. Are you saying to use Decrypt9 instead of GodMode9 but follow the instructions on the page?

How do I open Decrypt9? I am new to this.

Thanks!

Download the Decrypt9 firm file from the releases page, put it in luma/payloads and select it instead of GodMode9. The options are different, but it is a much easier to use and simpler app than GodMode9 so you should be able to work out where to find the CTR transfer option (start with sysNAND options I think).

Ok. I will try it next. I just followed the instructions on CTR transfer page you provided and was able to install the New 3ds CTR Transfer version 11.5 bin file with GodMode9
I followed the instructions to Step 20:
Update your device by going to System Settings, then “Other Settings”, then going all the way to the right and using “System Update”
  • Updates while using B9S + Luma (what you have) are safe
  • If this gives you an error, set your DNS settings to “auto”
My 3ds still has the same issue. dark screens. Can't access the system settings.

Should I try it with Decrypt9?

Thanks for all the help.

Mine had the exact same situation today even though it’s been fine for years.

I downloaded a fresh copy of Luma 8.1.1 from the GitHub and all is well.

I tried 8.1.1 and still have the same issue.

I also tried 8.1 and couldn't get into God Mode. The blue light would come on for a sec and go off.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Should I try other versions?

I replaced the boot.firm file on the root of the card. Is there anything else I need to do?

Thanks!

Yes, the GodMode9 one doesn't work properly, that's why I told you to use Decrypt9.

Take out the SD card and hold Select on boot. What version Luma does it say? Download that same version from https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases and put the boot.firm on your SD card, overwriting the one that is there.

If I take out the sd card - nothing happens. I get a blue light for a second and it goes off. If I have the card in and press select - It says Luma3DS v8.1.1 configuration.
I did download the 8.1.1 boot.firm file and after placing it on my card had the same issue as before.

Default EmuNand 1 is selected
Screen brightness 4 is selected
Splash: Off is selected
PIN lock: Off is selected
New 3DS CPU: Off is selected

Show NAND or user string in System Settings is checked. All other options are not selected

I had the same problem exiting from the new Metroid, the system froze and I did a hard shutdown. I had 1.3 B9S and 8.1.1 Luma but only would get black screens turning on. Could load luma menu and GM9 but nothing else. I switched the file to the lastest Luma nightly and had the same issue. I ended up leaving it turned on with the black screens and it did eventually boot after about 3 minutes.

I was playing metroid before the 3ds turned off. I can try the nightly build if I can find it.

Thanks.

I know how to solve this since I had this problem a week ago. Boot up your 3DS without an SD card, and then go to the Home Menu theme menu (the normal Nintendo one) and install one of the defaults. It should fix it.

I have access to God Mode and other stuff with the card in.

I am trying to follow insturctions and use Decrypt9. What options do I need to select on the SysNand screen?
SysNand Backup/Restore ---> Nand Resotre, or Nand Restore forced?
or CTRNAND transfer? What do I select after that? Auto CTRNAND transfer or Forced CTRNAND Transfer or Autofix?

Also, how do I select the file to transfer. I don't see any options to browse directories. Do I need to put it in root?

Sorry for asking all these questions, I just don't have any instructions.

I was actually going to recommend this (I was going to link your thread, but couldn't find it), but I wasn't sure if it was correct information or not. @OP, do this. You'll have to install Luma to your NAND in order to boot without your SD.

https://3ds.guide/finalizing-setup.html

Follow section VI.

Can't boot without card. Please read my comments.

I am not sure how I can boot without the SD card. The blue light goes on for a second and nothing happens without the SD card. Can you explain to me how to boot without the SD card if nothing happens with the 3ds?

Thanks,
Victor
