Greetings, my name is Aldrich and I've come here to gain a better understanding of NES disassembly, rom modification, and general hacking of the world's most popular toaster model.
More specifically, I have a few dream projects based on Dragon Quest 3 & 4 and Mother 1/Earthbound Zero. Some of these changes range from drastic, such as updating the scripts to match the ones in the modern localization in the former two games, to slightly less drastic--like adding in two extra sprites per-enemy to show an attacking stance and a taken-damage pose. Naturally, I've got a ton of homework to do before any of these can be implemented, and I'm eager to learn all I can on the matter.
Any advice, tips, or general right-direction-pushing would be greatly appreciated! I've been toying with these ideas for a while now, and I'm not against the idea of hiring more experienced help to assist in cracking the code to understand just what is possible within the rom limitations in the first place (if such is allowed by the board rules).
