Yes like I said in my previous posts it worked until three weeks ago then since then has not worked. As for lag in the working versions I never had any.
The problem is that I am using a very old version xD. What is the latest stable version of retro arch (in general) for haxchi?

Does anyone know how complicated it would be to let RetroArch load roms from a NAS and save the savegames there as well?
That would be great as I could continue savegames between RetroArch for Wii U and RetroArch for PC whenever I like.

This may has been asked before but why there is a RPX download as well? Is there an advantage of using it?
it only helps with big cores, like FBA and MAME.
In shorts words, the RPX versions allow for a more big core to be loaded at once in the Homebrew Launcher.

For example, if you notice in the ELF versions, FBA is split in like 4 different cores, while the RPX version has only one FBA Alpha core.
Same goes for MAME.

To be honest, I believe only those two benefit from being in RPX format, the rest being below 6MB in size can be used as either ELF or RPX without any true issues.

Okay in other words there's no disadvantage in using everything only in RPX format? Thx.

Okay so yesterday was the first time I tried setting RetroArch up for myself.
What I did:
Since I got two Haxchi compatible eShop games I sacrificed the second one for RetroArch to directly launch this: http://www.wiiubru.com/appstore/#/app/retro_launcher
Then I downloaded everything form the first post (the ELF package but I will replace it by the RPX package today), put the cores to SD:\retroarch\ as it's in the 7zip file but the emu launchers to SD:\wiiu\retro\ as I don't wanna spam my HBL.
Finally I put some SNES roms to
SD:\roms\Super Nintendo Entertainment System\
and some NES roms to
SD:\roms\Nintendo Entertainment System\
and started my RetroArch Haxchi. From the RetroArch Launcher I launched Snes9x and selected "Load content" to load a SNES rom. After selecting Super Soccer I had to select a core again although I launched Snes9x from RetroArch Launcher already. And then it threw me back but not to the Homescreen, not to the RetroArch Launcher (which in fact is nothing but a HBL mod) but to my real HBL.
I went through everything again and found myself once more in the HBL.
Then again in Snes9x I picked something like "Analyse content" (as far as I remember), went for single file, picked my rom again and it started successfully.

So a few questions:
  1. If I have to select a core after selecting a rom, what's even the point in having all emulators separated in the RetroArch Launcher?
  2. What could be the reason it crashed back to HBL when I used "Load content"? Isn't that the menu point to select my rom?
  3. I went to video settings to apply something like the Eagle Filter Engine but there were no filters. Are there no filters at all yet or how do I get them?
  4. Super Soccer run just fine and made me very happy. The image went from the top of the screen to the bottom only with black bars on the left and the right as it should be (because SNES isn't 16:9 obviously). However I then tried to run Street Fighter Alpha 2 which did not reach from the top of the screen to the buttom as you can see in my attached picture. Does anyone know the reason why? I want every rom stretched so at least two sides of the image are reaching my screen's borders.

As for street fighter alpha 2 that is because that is the way the game was programmed even on a real snes that game has huge borders at the top and bottom of the screen.

What? I never had them in ZSNES on Windows and I don't have them in RetroArch on Windows (Snes9x core).

Just for reference here is a video of the game running on a actual snes you can see the top and bottom borders clearly. The video also shows the Snes version running next to the playstation version which does not have the black borders. You can see this when the fight starts

Very interesting, thank you.
Why would Capcom do that? I have no clue. Maybe due to resolution problems they would have had to to expand the stages to the top or something like that. Okay then there should be an option in RetroArch to scale that. :P

Interesting as well is the fact that the long freeze at "FIGHT" seems to be a "native issue". I never played it on Super Nintendo so I always thought it was an emulator or rom bug.

The Snes version makes use of a S-DD1 chip on the cartridge for on-the-fly graphic and sound decompression. this causes the pause when entering matches because the sound and graphics needs to be decompressed then loaded. As for the boarders they are there because the Snes simply was not powerful enough to play the game in full screen some other snes games also has boarders as well off the top of my head I remember doom and stunt racer fx (stunt trax fx in america) and the star Fox 2 beta having them and a few more also.
