Hacking moving from gateway to CFW question..

Hi... i'm looking at trying to update my n3ds to a custom firmware.. i've been away from the 3ds for a while and i'm not sure of a few things.. currently my n3ds has fw 9.0 on it so i'm pretty much good there.. but i was using a gateway card for running backups.. and i installed a profile exploit thing that made it so i didnt have to use the cubicninja cart to boot into gateway mode is that going to cause any issues? i plan on going to luma3ds and had looked thought most of the 3ds.guide thing i'm pretty comfortable with that process its just making sure my 3ds is in the right place to start doing that..

According to what @zoogie said,
Go to System Settings -> Internet Settings -> Nintendo DS Connections or run DS/DSi game to wipe DS Profile Exploit.
Then, you can process through http://3ds.guide/ like normal 3DS.
