I have a hacked o3ds in bad condition and want to transfer to another 3ds. The current 3ds doesn't use a9lh, only emunand booted by menuhax. I'm going to buy a new one and put a9lh on it. I want to keep all my cia and cart save files of course.

How do I do this?
Also are all firmwares hackable or do I need to buy a specific version?

All firmwares are hackable.

If you already have your emunand on an sd card in a separate partition, then just transferring the sd card from one system to the other should do the trick.

No, you can't use an EmuNAND from one system on another directly like this.

Easiest thing to do is install A9LH on the O3DS using https://3ds.guide/ , then do a system transfer. (You can also move EmuNAND to SysNAND on the O3DS, but Luma has an option to boot EmuNAND directly.)

Do note that system transfer won't transfer non-legit tickets, so I'd recommend using JKSM on the O3DS before transferring in order to back up your saves.

I didn't think that you could a few weeks ago, but then I encountered a thread in which people were advising an OP to simply transfer his emunand from one system to another.

Out of curiosity, why can't emunands be used between systems? It's not like it matters that the physical nands are different.

They are still encrypted to be run on the 3ds they were created on.

@GerbilSoft A CTRNAND transfer from 1 emunand into another would be a viable solution right? And still retain access/decryption of the Nintendo3DS/id/id file...

Just backup your tickets, do a System Transfer, restore tickets. You'll need to re-inject FBI (assuming you returned it to normal H&S) but that's not a huge deal.
