Software can't cause this under normal circumstances, we get theses reports with every game or emulator release it's almost always something wrong with the users pc be it faulty software/drivers or hardware.

Can you stop please?, is not our pc's, non version of citra has done this to my computer, it's only this version that has this problem, STOP blaming our computers at this point you are looking beyond silly.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

@drwhojan 's recent build is for those who have Overclocked PC and I already warned you not to try the build if you have a poor/moderate specs.

Dude, how an i7 4770k 16 gb ram and a 970 gtx is "poor" specs?... My pc is NOT overclocked but it has also NOT "poor" specs.

Dude, u totally missed out the point he was trying to make. THAT particular build was for those users who had Overclocked PCs. generally when someone overclocks their pc, they tend to have a very efficient cooling system. Even if u have great specs, a shitty cooling system could easily burn your pc at high temperatures. That build was for those who had Overclock + very efficient cooling systems.

well he also mentioned me... i already said the temperature was fine before, max is around 45-49 both on my pc and notebook (i7 4720 and i5 6600k), and both shutdowns, so im confused. anyway, the 8-12 build is fine atm, only played for 30 minutes, but no shutdown so i guess it fixed?

@drwhojan I can confirm that the latest Citra-GCCKU-Citra+BleedingEdge-08.12.2016 has the petalburg woods crash.
However performance wise, this build is totally amazing :grog: . Constant 50+ Fps (Laptop gpu) in Pokemon S/M. Fps drop occurs while entering/exiting/encountering pokemon but who cares. Its AWESOME :yay:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
@arcanian yeah. The PR that was for overclockers was not included in recent build.
And just to clarify, most efficient cooling systems have very low temperatures. It might seem that 45-49 C is very less but for the "code" it seemed high so it shutdown.

@drwhojan the latest build (8.12.2016) got me around 55-57 fps on pokemon moon (no outline) below mount hokulani (grass), so it's nice improvement :) looking forward for the next build/merge!

Thing is i have 0 problems wiht any other games or emulators out there, the fact that you are even defending this and blaiming the users is just beyond silly.

Also, he could also have said that the build was only meant to be used by people that overclock but we didn't knew anything about it, my pc wasn't even hot because i was monitoring the temperatures and it was around 55ª-60ª which is fine it is the normal temperature on load on my computer and never have shutdowns.

Good, i don't want my computer having random shutdowns for no reason.

Dude, Just remember what i am saying now. Whenever you find some download link for a build on these forums, don't directly just download it. First go back a few pages in the thread, read what people have already posted about the build you are downloading. Don't just download without reading and then complain about issues u r having.

FOR UR INFO :
Yeah it's kind of experimental. John wrote it. It will only work really good when operating beyond the TDP ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_design_power ), so ideal for overclockers?! When the CPU would normally slow down because of heat issues this will be able to kick in and pull the CPU temperature down to room-temperature :) (it's winter here, so with heaters on etc my CPU is at 21 degree Celsius with the patch, while it's normally at like... 50 degree or more while running Citra!)

I'll have to use my Windows machine (i7-920, Stock/Boxed cooler) tomorrow to see if your patched version still works.
My version ran fine on my Windows 8.1, 64-Bit - So I'm kind of surprised about you requiring a patch. I'm guessing your CPU just wasn't warm enough?
Probably more effective for others.

For me it keeps RAM usage at around 0% and also CPU was more than idle where it's normally under a lot of stress while Citra is running. I might integrate your patch though (if John is also fine with it), maybe it works better for some people?

Well next time something like that is gonnabe released it would be nice to specify that its a build only for an specific purpose and can cause problems to other users, is really simple.

Next time you want to download some build from anyone that is not a dev, remember what I've said about "builds made from and to stupid people". If you trust enough to run unofficial code from @drwhojan (code that he doesn't even understand to begin with) or any other unofficial/not verified source, you can't blame anyone but yourself for your problems

It's not 100% your fault (it is when you break the GPL, but on these cases we just "snip" your links and warn you for the 9999999º time).
Even if someone PC dies because of your build (depending on the type of shutdown, could be killing some blocks on the HDD), it's not your fault, it's the user fault.

If you think that a software program can kill a PC you don't have idea what you're saying.

If you force shutdown on a PC when the HDD is reading some file (this is almost 100% of the time, because the OS read/write system stuff almost every second), there is a chance of killing/damaging that specific block being read/write. Learn a little everyday, huh ? The risk is there, it is possible (and happens more often than you can imagine), don't force your luck
