Lol someone askes this every now and again on here and it always makes me laugh the software on a 3ds is stored on a rom chip (rom is short for Read Only Memory). The clue should be in the name IE the fact it is called read only memory means you can't right to it. So the answer is no to your question.

I thought you were doing pretty well, despite you not using any commas.
But then you had to go and mess it up because it's a homophone.
Not sure if it was my stupid phone auto correct or my dyslexia with that one lol of course I meant write not right.

I don't think you are talking about hardware. If you mean software that can patch a game running from a cartridge, then both HANS and NTR CFW should work.
If you actually mean hardware, just forget you ever had this idea.

well pokemons not read oldy memory since the rom and the saves stored o nsame chip and you can inject save into it it uses a nand

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Well, they're both game cartridges, Read-only memory.
you could desolder the read only chip and replace it with a one you can write to flash a game on that and resolder that people did it with gb games then try to flash a rom to it and resolder it idk if it will work though

Yeah, NES and SNES carts, also GBA carts have been modified into gamehacks and stuff by taking the ROM chip out and and replacing it with a pre-programmed (becuase without some modificationyou can't reprogram the chip in-circuit) pin-compatible EPROM/EEPROM or FLASH chip. if you know a compatible, atleast one-time writeable chip to replace the one in your 3DS cartridge I don't see why it wouldn't work. the games are encrypted though so for now you would be limited to reproduction carts. as the data on the ROM vs the new chip would be 1:1 keeping the encryption. if you want to make a romhack or something you would have to first crack ninty's private keys I think.

nope, one key to decrypt, need two keys to encrypt, one which is not known because ninty has it in a vault somewhere!

we can install custom CIA as well as CIA made from .3ds romdumps because CFW patches out some stuff. correct me if I'm wrong.

theres like no way to install custom hombrew cias and games since nintedo needs to give keys or signature keys for all the games they make and the 3ds probs has a list stored in it so it will not run unlegit cias unnless you use a cfw

obviously not, as the name states: Read Only Memory
Card2 is actually a single rewritable nand chip, with software-enforced write protection (someone allegedly bricked a Pokemon game with an external save programmer, when card2 was a brand new thing)...

...not that it would matter, as highlighted by the fact that you can't load unsigned .3ds with Sky + CFW

Adding onto this, flashcarts are like custom carts, right? Like they have their own EPROM or EEPROM?
