Alright I got the powersave dongle and put the save file into the oot3d cart, do I need to toss any other files into the SD card prior to starting up the save file within the game? I want to make sure I do this right. Also I have a few more questions if anyone is willing to answer them.

1) do I need to downgrade before I can install homebrew apps using this method?
2) Can I take the OOt3d cart out of the system to play my other physical games? or do I now need to leave it in there?

You need to download smealum's starter kit and decompress it athe root of your SD card. Specifically, you need a boot.3dsx file (which is the homebrew that'll be launched by the hax, aka HBL) & a 3ds folder (inside which go all other homebrews) at the root of your SD card. You can download smea's starter kit here : http://smealum.github.io/3ds/

1) No, homebrews can be launched under any firmware because they require the same permissions as a regular game. It's the entrypoint (aka OoT3DHax) that needs to be adapted to your FW. Downgrading allows you to run unsigned things & utilities that need higher privileges.

2) You only need OoT3D to enter HBL. You can remove it whenever you want to play another game. You can also remove it after HBL has been launched (to play a game that requires region free for example, rebooting from an homebrew to HBL doesn't require the cart either).

What happens ? You should have 1 save with a weird name, and when you launch it you play as child Link in his kokiri house. Then, if you immediatly press A or touch the screen, a glitchy screen appears then you see the *hax launching and then HBL. At what point are you having troubles ?

After I press A in the Kokiri village house with the obvious glitches in the item screen, the screen goes black and gets glitchy, then it pops up with some text on a black screen says something about home brew menu? ropbin ready...then it seems to crash and goes back to the default 3ds menu screen with the apps and such.

I guess you haven't injected the correct savefile for your FW and console version.

First, go to https://smealum.github.io/3ds/ , to the "Otherapp/ropbin payloads" section. Input your console's type and firmware into the boxes and click either button. Note the name of the file but don't download it.

Then, download the latest savefiles archive from https://github.com/yellows8/oot3dhax/releases . Navigate your way to the folder corresponding to your console : "/savefiles_powersave/<either folder>/<your console region>", and pick the file inside that has the same name as the one you noted. That's the file you need to inject using your powersave.
Note that at <either folder> step, you should pick the first one first, then if the files you picked doesn't work try the second (there are 2 folders because there are 2 versions of the game).

I did that as well, one file works and gives me the haxxxxxx name for the save when loading the game the other doesnt work and I get a corrupted save message when the game loads.

Yep none of this works.....not sure why its kicking me out of that screen when it says "homemenu robpin ready" its acting like it cant find any files or if its trying to grab something from a server, its not there or not working anymore. Any other 10.7 N3ds owners can confirm they got this to work?

Update: Was able to successfully downgrade to 9.2 from 10.7 using oot3d with powersaves on the n3ds using the Plailect guide along with some youtube videos that visually showed the process.

There is no payload for 11.0 yet, and 10.7 uses the same as 10.6:
  1. Go to https://smealum.github.io/3ds/#otherapp, type your FW version & click any of the buttons. Note the name of the file (you don't have to download it).
  2. Go to https://github.com/yellows8/oot3dhax/releases/tag/03-01-16 and download the archive.
  3. Uncompress it, go inside the "saveimage_powersave" folder and search for the name you noted (use Ctrl + F). You should find 2 files, try one then the other if the first one fails.
  4. Make a backup using the PS software and find it in the powersave folder (it should be in your Personnal folder).
  5. Swap the backup with the downloaded file, and rename it so that's it's the same as the backup.
  6. Use PS software to restore that "backup".

If you don't own a PS you won't be able to use a prepatched PS savefile, as it's encrypted by Datel so it can't be injected by any other mean than through their own software.
Unless you already have access to homebrews, know someone who does or own a PS, there's no way for you to get oot3dhax on your 10.7 3DS.

It does in fact work on 11.0, you can still use the 10.7 Haxx to load homebrew on 11.0, I updated my original post with download links to the proper powersave files for US savegames
Thanks, but I had 10.7 before and it worked ok till 11.0 it stucks, does it require cfw? 'cause I don't install cfw on my new3dsxl
