Of course they'd go after the one that leaked it too, that's the root of their problem. At the very least, they wouldn't be given access to any future code.

For someone who complains so much when someone dislikes you, you sure don't do much to prevent it.

Because I certainly know how to prevent it, right? If things get leaked, they get leaked, nothing they can do once it's out in the open really, esp. if multiple sources have access to said leaked code. The more things are kept secret, the more desirable they become to obtain through various means. No secrets = no leaks.

Nintendo did previously sue the guy who leaked a game online, I think it was mario, they ignored all the downloaders, and went after the original source.

Now I don't know exactly how they did it, but its not like they haven't done it before, thats a clear example of them doing it.

yep. that one hit home. twas a fellow temper. NSMB Wii. Wasn't careful and flaunted too much info online via photos. (with a clear uncensored receipt) Notice the government didn't have any trouble getting him?

Guys. have you ever tried... not pirating? Not many people come on and not yell at you for this stuff... but here's my take on it.

I, when given the option to easily, pirate games.

This led to me spending ages ignoring games on my hard drive. Having no physical collection, and not bothering to put effort into enjoying any of my games.

3DS and Wii-U however, have flipped me back to how I once was again.

I buy the games that I want. I sell on those I finish. I occasionally keep ones I adore.

There's always offers, and amazing prices, and... actually. You know what. Stuff this. I can hear the vitriolic typing of some entitled little shit arguing with me already. This is GBATemp, how could I be so dumb? :P

Its true, the less effort put into obtaining a game often means that you'll get a bunch, and just have them sitting there forever. But when you pay for a game, you buy it because you're excited about it.

And YES before someone busts in and proclaims "I pirate and play instantly!' yes some people do that, its not many now is it...

I don't feel high and mighty because I don't pirate, I'm aware that I have money that some people not working might not have, but I am also aware that I finish most of what I buy, but when I grab 10 things from PS+... they just sort of sit there as I 'intend' to get to them, but never do.

I'm in the camp that both pirates and buys games. Having the option to try a game before buying it allows better spending habits when it comes to games. Not every 3DS game has an available demo to try, leaving rental and piracy as the only other means of getting hands-on with a game without spending $30-40+. Historically, handheld games have never really been carried by many rental companies. Also, local game rental stores have gone the way of the dodo, leaving Gamefly as the only remaining rental option.

lmao yeah seeing the product of hundreds of hours of work get stolen is so funny omg

I can understand this, though on the flip side, if the work was intended on being released eventually anyways, I'd personally care a heck of a lot less if it was my work. Though that's strictly my opinion on it.

More games that you can ever hope to play. That's the fun of it but while have have games out the whazoo my game playing habits have not changed at all. I pick a game that I think I'll like and I beat it. I will abandon a game if it's really bad but that makes piracy a plus

Yeah, Randomizer is an idiot, we all know it.

BTW why is this forum so full of whiny children? Seriosuly, this place has been pretty bad recently. Lots of entitled warez kiddies begging for free games, smartasses who can't code for shit and think they're full of themselves, attackings devs simply because they don't get their free warez candy. Only on this forum you'll read crap like "LMAO I love seeing scumbag devs suffer because they don't give me muh warez, even though I'm an useless irrelevant fool. So funny".

I'm getting really sick of this, I don't see this kind of shit in any other communities. I come here once a week or something to check out the latest developments and I can't help but stumble upon toxic posts and pages of discussion like that all the time. Some of those sick fucks look like they post this kind of useless crap 24/7 on here, jesus christ. I think you guys should either do something with your life or seek medical help.

Of course I'm not talking about everyone, there's a bunch of nice people here. Just the retards are very, very vocal.

What? No, of course not.

Yeah and you're the biggest whiny baby of all. Congratulations

Quality post right here. You can tell by the way it ignores the questions asked and jumps immediately to personal insult.

There was a time when owning a computer and using the internet (dial-up) was reserved to the intellectual. That time is gone.

I think the scene was more interesting back then.

10/10 can't agree more. 3ds scene is full of that.
I hope WiiU won't be this way.

~SNIP~
I buy the games that I want. I sell on those I finish. I occasionally keep ones I adore.

There's always offers, and amazing prices ~SNIP~

This may be true for you, and "offers and amazing prices" may exist where you live, however there's areas of the world where a single 3ds game sells for quite a bit of money. There's also areas where a lot of games don't exist, and it's prohibitively expensive to import as well. For me, I personally have a pretty sizable collection myself, and have set up CFW for the sole purpose of having my collection with me wherever I go. Contrary to whatever you've been lead to believe, it's not always all about "OMG WAREZ" some of us simply want a more convenient way of playing our games. Unfortunately piracy is usually a downside to this, and as I explained, sometimes piracy is actually a lot easier of an option than sinking the equivalent of nearly 100 USD per game to buy them in some companies (someone I know lives in Sri Lanka for example, this is a huge burden there, thus piracy runs pretty rampant). Does that make it any more legal? No. Do I understand why it happens though? Yes. Absolutely. This is starting to get a little bit off the original topic though, and I'll be the first to admit, it's strictly up to the devs to do whatever they want to do (or not) with their code, exploits they stumble upon, etc.

EDIT: As an example of a little less obscure country than Sri Lanka, Brazil for example, has such heavy import taxes that it's actually cheaper for people that live there to quite literally buy a plane ticket and fly to the US if they want to buy for example, a PS4 system. This carries over to the 3ds game pricing as well. Import taxes are in the several hundred percent of the cost of the item range, so a single retail 3ds game when brand new runs somewhere in the area of 120 USD. I'm sure some native Brazillians on the forums could testify to this.

So because we have an opinion that differs from yours we're sick fucks and should seek medical help? Perhaps some of us believe that just because you did something X years ago doesn't mean your hot stuff now. Don't get me wrong I have all the respect in the world for people like smealum, they know their shit and they are working on stuff that's relevant now. What I don't respect are the people who believe they deserve it for being part of the scene X years ago for X console.

As for the developers choosing to not release exploits, I can understand it but it's still kind of a jerk move. I mean you did all the work it's up to you if you want to release an exploit or not, however don't get mad when people call you out for not doing so. Likewise don't get mad when someone leaks your work or steals credit for your leaked work, you brought it down on yourself.

In some cases, it makes sense NOT to release an exploit. If for example, we already have a working exploit, or if an exploit isn't very easy to do/has heavy bricking potential, etc. I'd honestly rather they not be released. The last thing we need on our hands is a billion threads about how people bricked their consoles using an exploit that wasn't stable, and there's certainly no good reason to flood the scene with 50 exploits so they can all be patched up, and we have no viable entry points in later firmware.

that's a valid point. Personally I feel its better to have a billion threads about how idiots didn't read how to do an exploit right and bricked their system than a billion threads about how there's no exploits and the hackers are doing nothing. Ofc if it was unstable to the point that even if you did everything right it could still mess up THEN I would agree with you.

This logic sort of works and sort of doesn't. You purchase a game and if you don't like it, thats your problem, you made a bad choice, whether its because you didn't read reviews, or if its because despite being amazing, you couldn't get into the game, eitherway its on you. Pirating a game and then saying 'good job I didn't buy that' doesn't really work. Theres always the chance of not liking stuff, and probably 50% of people that buy a game dislike it, regardless of the game (numbers will vary obviously).

Theres also the 'I pirate to get a glimpse, if I like I'll buy' how many people realy do this, some do, but I doubt its many, they've already got the game, why delete it and go out and buy it if you've already got it? I doubt many people really do this.

This is basically what I do, I travel a lot, more than most people do, I fly maybe 10-15 times a year, sometimes more, for weeks at a time, sometimes a few months. I don't want to take shit tonnes of games with me, so I backup all my 3DS games and DS games onto my SD, now I can play them that way. I do get games from the store when I can, and most of my games are digital, but sometimes I've got a cart on impulse buy, its a special edition or something.

There was a time when owning a computer and using the internet (dial-up) was reserved to the intellectual. That time is gone.

ikr? on facebook you can clearely see this! why does someone goes on facebook and dont even know how to go to control setting in a pc...they click ''like'' on every pictures and every ads and they wounder why their pc are getting slow and inffected..ah well, people who dont wanna learn must pay the price i guess :P
i remember when i was using my old computer and my parents didnt even know what was that dial-up sound when they pickup the phone..i was like ''HANG UP THE PHONE! I'M ON THE NET!''...but the worst part was when i was using dial-up internet on my Dreamcast...Neeve Campbell's fake pictures took soooo long to display ...anyway..

Now, they make computer and net sooo easely accessible for anyone so even a retarded person can naviguate and insulte anyone like they want..

on forums, almost everyone who had accounts was there for a reason, not just to bitch and whine to people who's there for a reason..

..oh and btw, when is this thread going to be closed? i mean, isnt it just a demotivation for modders around GBAtemp? on this thread there's more people who want piracy then people who actually build the road, and people who's building the road are getting bad comments because they dont do it like others want.. its not even suppose to be a subject! they make the work, so why threating them like slave just because you cant pirate games yet?.. anyway, i hope this threads gonna close soon so that whiners take their holes and modders get back to work! :ha:
