I haven't been using the exploit because I can'y find a way to block the updates on my router (thanks At&t Uverse) and you need internet connection to use the exploit (plus I think I'm on 5.3.2 because I was forced to update and said "eh, screw it"). I would like to know anyways for when the exploit is remade/ported, does using the build.sh file somehow host the exploit on to my computer and I access it by entering my IPv4 address on the Wii U, or does it leave me with an HTML file that I have to host somewhere myself?

It gives you an HTML file, which you have to host yourself.

Damn, that means I would have to use my laptop or somehow host it as my Wii U is connected (er, disconnected right now), from the Google Chrome network box. How do we build this on the Wii U without updating the firmware? I'm so confused as to how this will work.

Is the new version of webkit that blocks the bug still freakishly old? And also, is you guys' prioity the kernel exploit or porting/recreating the exploit to later versions?

Well it technically is possible to downgrade if you can create your own signed recovery images, seeing as boot0 allows you to boot one from an SD card, but I am not at ALL qualified to talk about how that works. It may also be possible to read/write the NAND directly since that's where all the Cafe OS binaries are stored. Someone should look into that again, I think MN1 said his friend was interested.

This would be epic (if possible). Especially if anyone ever figures out a way to successfully setup a second NAND/eMMC. Chances are IF someone does even figure that out, it would likely require a NAND/eMMC from a donor Wii U which can be costly, unless you buy a broken Wii U off ebay and the eMMC is still perfectly intact. Of course this kind of feat would require some crazy soldering skills, but if someone is able to figure it out with physical parts then theoretically, eventually, emuNAND for the Wii U in its entirety could happen as well :).

If I ever end up coming across a dead Wii U in my travels, I might experiment a little assuming we have access to all the necessary private keys. That being said, I would need to sharpen up my soldering skills like crazy to even attempt something like that ;). I'm just p****** in the wind right now, but its a nice thought lol.

What's what word you censored if it's not "pissed"?? Anyways, downgrading firmware would be nice, but it sounds pretty bloody risky to do, seeing as no one's actually tested it on a Wii U, at least, I don't think anyone has.

I haven't really looked into that in a while, so I can't say.

I'm fairly confident that since I'm on 5.3.0, I won't be able to use this exploit for at least six-eight months.

You can host it on your own private network too. Severing ties from the internet altogether if you wish. But I will let you know that even if your firmware is out of date, the browser still works ;). That's how people are still using the browser exploit :P.

You just can't anything else online without updating XD.

You build the file on your PC/Mac, host it, and then go to the webpage/IP address that you hosted it on. To block FW updates, block something like nus.shop.nintendo.com. I'm sure you can find the URL somewhere in this thread, if not the beginning.

But it's on 5.3.0, so, the exploit wouldn't be of any use to me since it hasn't been ported yet, so....why should I even bother if it won't be ported over for who knows how long? I mean, I can't even use it right away, hell, I don't even know how to set it up. Yeah, my skills suck that bad.

Can't. The Google Fiber network box has no such IP blacklisting capabilities, I would have to get a separate personal router and connect it to the Google router and then blacklist that IP address. Right now, my Wii U has no connectivity at all to the network.

you are close my friend "pissing" lol.

Only initial work will be risky. If such a feat is possible, emuNAND would theoretically be possible to set up on an external harddrive like on the original wii

Too bad I won't be able to use the exploit right away anyway, since I'm on 5.3.0, which AFAIK, it hasn't been ported to yet...I mean... I don't even know how I'm to do this. I sure hope that someone makes a thread with step by step instructions. And no, I can't block IP addresses, the Google network box has no such functions in current firmware, so, I would have to get a personal router, which is gonna cost me money, unless someone would be willing to donate one. So yeah, if I want to use the exploit, I have to spend money on a personal router. That's just fan-f***ing-tastic...*sigh*....This sucks....really sucks for me....damn Google Fiber and not having blacklisting.

I doubt there will be another kernel exploit that doesn't rely on WiFi/Ethernet either.

The README basically explains everything. Also, I think there are programs that you can use (www.connectify.me for windows) that will let you use internet connection you already have to make your own WiFi network with it's own firewall. Heck, I thing I heard TSK say something once about being able to do that through LAN.

hook up your Wii U through ethernet (with a usb-ethernet adapter) and just unplug it everytime you're done using it. Its what I do and i'm still on 5.2.0 lol.

But how does that solve the issue with the web exploit though? That's what I'm not understanding. The Wii U has to be on the most recent firmware to be able to use the browser app, does it not? My Google Fiber network box has no IP blacklisting in the firmware, I would have to get my own personal router and hook it up to that and then blacklist. I'm so bloody confused, and I would rather not have to rely on the WiFi and use the LAN adapter that I have for the Wii U instead, but, I'm just so lost. Isn't there a guide or will there be a guide to use? Will there ever be an exploit that doesn't require use of an internet connection? Dammit......ugh...

Can the exploit only be used with C code, or is it possible for some genius to somehow port it to python?

From what NWPlayer123 has previously stated, the exploit translates its code from C to super low level code on-the-fly. So theoretically, you could write your code in any language, but the exploit would need to be tweaked to be able to translate the language you're writing in...
