My very first experience with using VPN was when I signed up with Giganews and they included VyprVPN in the bundle I was paying for. For a few weeks it was a pretty novel thing to bypass region blocks on Youtube videos or access some US only sites but other than that, I didn't really use it too much at the time and so I decided to stop using it a few months later.

That was 3 years ago and with more and more pirating sites getting blocked by UK ISPs and with me constantly using the Google cache feature just to find the torrent, I'm wondering if now is a good time to purchase a VPN subscription again.

One of the main thing I want to do is seed the torrents I downloaded instead of just being a leecher but the thing I'm concerned about is my ISP noticing the high upload rate so would a VPN combined with uTorrent be enough to hide my activity from my ISP?

Or is VPN just another subscription that's not as good as everyone makes out to be? I'm actually thinking of PIA but I'm open to other suggestions.

Even with a VPN your ISP would be able to see your upload/download rate, however the data would be encrypted so they wouldn't be able to tell the difference between whether you're downloading a torrent or a Steam game/Uploading a torrent or a Youtube video.

So yeah, using a VPN should be enough to hide your torrenting habits.

Another question, I actually have a subscription for the UK version of Crunchyroll which actually has quite a lot of shows missing from the US version of CR. Can anyone confirm if it's possible to log into the US version of CR with my account with a VPN set to a US country?

I know it's strange to ask about accessing anime that's been blocked off when I could be torrenting it but I actually seem to like the idea of streaming anime (yes, I'm aware of the other sites that streams anime but I thought I'd give CR a chance).

since the account if for the UK version, i don't think it will work, i don't know how the website works, but i think you can ask the support of the website if you can watch shows on the US website using a UK account..

because if you use a vpn set to US country. it will be like if you were in US on vacation... you can ask their support if you go on vacation to US if you can use the UK account

Well that was a quick answer from Crunchyroll! Got an email from support saying that that there's no problem with accessing the US version of CR with my UK account.
