Anyone know what's wrong with my 3ds xl?

The top screen is weird. When I touch outside the oval the oval stretches to my finger.

The bottom screen has dark splotches all over the screen.

Wow. That's nasty. Judging from the pictures, I think its venereal.

But no really, the top screen is likely to be the plastic screen insert being dented inwards to the LCD causing distortions. This can be fixed by getting a replacement shell which comes with the screen insert. Another possibility is moisture. Since you describe that it spreads to your finger when you press it, it should be the former.

As for the bottom, can't really comment much. Heat damage perhaps?

More details please. Did you bring your 3ds to the beach? sauna? natural springs? Anything that might cause something to go wrong with your 3ds?

I don't really use it or take it anywhere that much. I checked it a week ago because I was buying a Supercard DSTWO and it looked fine. The Supercard arrived yesterday and when I went to use it there was the blotches and an oval on both screens.

First picture really looks like liquid, second picture is too blurry.

I doubt guarantee is going to help you, unless you have some insurance that covers all kind of accidents.
If you don't have any of the above then you should disassemble it and make sure there's no liquid on the mainboard and while you are at it, clean the screens.

I'm not 100% sure, but the bottom picture looks a lot like liquid damage. It looks like those are drying marks from where the liquid got inside the metal frame of the LCD and dried on the backlight or the semi-transparent papery layers in front of it. When the light from the backlight shines through these semi-transparent layers you see those dark spots on the LCD, even if the LCD itself is clean. I once successfully cleaned those layers to restore a liquid damaged LCD for a normal-sized 3DS, but it's a real nightmare and I would never recommend trying it. The trouble is that you somehow have to clean the layers and then reassemble the LCD assembly without leaving even a single speck of dust or fingerprint on any layer. It's maddening work and I would never try to do it again. Best just to replace the whole screen when it comes to liquid damage.

The top screen though looks like there's probably just some moisture underneath the plastic cover. It doesn't look like anything got behind the LCD.

I know the Nintendo warranty won't cover liquid damage, but it's always possible the store you bought it from might still accept a return, so that might be the best choice.

Really nice analysis!

Cleaning those layers is some serious work, the furthest I have gone when it comes to repairing lcd's is swapping the glass from one case that had liquid in those layers to one that had the glass cracked.

It really is a pain since just one finger print on the first layer after the glass, might ruin the whole job.
