    Basically I've tried everything from making my own holder and hot melt glue gunning int he cable but it refuses to work. And when it does work, it's highly inconsistent, one day I wake up the Wii runs beautifully, the next, it says "Please insert a disk". Anyone know anything?

    No. I just found a way to put the ribbon cable back in and the disk spins perfectly fine except it doesnt read disks at all. It just says "Please insert disk" even though the DVD drive is spinning. What is the meaning of this?

    Ribbon is fully in. I tested this by taking out the ribbon it'd say insert disk and putting in the ribbon and the drive does not spin.

    I installed the wiikey and it doesnt work right now. I cant get it to eject any disk at all and it cant read the GCN disk inside. Edit:Found my problem. Lousy soldering so a wire broke off. and a connector to the DVD drive was taken off that can be plugged back in. All are fixable.
