Hey, I have the same situation but on the Mariko board. Is there any nearby copper that I can solder to?

Homebrew Is it possible to transfer .nds files through download play to a DS?

I just came up with this idea. What if a host 3DS used the Download Play of the DS to transfer .nds files? I mean, transferring the data of a DS rom through download play. It could be a cool idea for people who don't have a DS flashcard. Q: Why don't you just install NDS bootstrap on your 3DS...

Hardware v5 DS lite won't read carts after drop

Thank you. I am waiting for the replacement to arrive. I'll continue this thread just in case the repair doesn't work. 1670880057 Good news! The replacement cartridge slot worked. I received the cartridge slot right on time after I came from high school and installed it right after. It came a...

Hardware v5 DS lite won't read carts after drop

Update 3: I've bought a replacement cartridge slot on eBay. I'll receive it next week. I'll keep y'all updated. 1670585491 Update 4: Today I decided to remove the old cartridge slot, but unfortunately I ripped two of the four support pads. I guess that I'll secure it later with some hot glue...

Hardware v5 DS lite won't read carts after drop

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try to reflow on Sunday as I'm outside home and don't have the necessary tools to do so. 1670513781 Update: I've reflown the contacts but it didn't work. It must be something else, but I don't know what. Could it be corrosion on the pins? Could applying some vinegar...

I don't see anything wrong with the pins here.

Hardware v5 DS lite won't read carts after drop

As I mentioned, it wasn't working even with official carts. I also measured them with a calliper and they are the same in thickness, so that's not it. Also, I just tested and the behaviour is the same.

Hardware v5 DS lite won't read carts after drop

There don't seem to be any issues with the solder joints. I can always reflow the solder if needed. EDIT: I was able to boot the R4 cartridge with the back cover off and hold the battery on the contacts. It crashed (as if I removed the cart while the console is on) instantly.

Hardware v5 DS lite won't read carts after drop

I dropped my DS lite and it doesn't have any physical issues. The console boots up and can boot GBA games but can't read any DS games. I've tried to use alcohol and a q-tip to clean the contacts but the q-tip doesn't fit. I've tried recharging the console because it was nearly discharged but to...

    Homebrew [Release][N3DS] Sonic 1 & 2 (2013) Decompilation port

I have also tried the sonic retro apk and the same thing happens. I don't think the issue is with the game but the CIA. I believe the CIA is compiled on the rev1 (?) Screenshot of the crash:

    Homebrew [Release][N3DS] Sonic 1 & 2 (2013) Decompilation port

I forgot to say that it only worked on the rev2 of the exe. idk what that means but it only worked with it. The data.rsdk was the one that I used in the previous post.

    Homebrew [Release][N3DS] Sonic 1 & 2 (2013) Decompilation port

I have tried to use it on my PC. It gets past the title screen but then it freezes. I did place it on sd:/3ds/Sonic1/ I am now downloading the APK from Sonic Retro. I'll reply if it worked or not.

    Homebrew [Release][N3DS] Sonic 1 & 2 (2013) Decompilation port

Hello everyone. I have downloaded the Sonic 1 CIA and installed it. I also copied the Data.rsdk file, but when I try to run the app, it crashes. I have attached a dump from when it crashed. Just remember to remove the ".txt". The file ends in ".txt" because it won't let me attach a ".dmp" file.

Hacking R4i Gold (v1.4.1, not PRO, not 3DS) No timebomb firmware/kernel?

My one is very old. I don't think it's a clone but I'm not searching for the firmware of my cart. I'm searching for one like Wood (without timebomb)

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    but that's a long shot

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
    +1
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
