    I downloaded the update with WiiUUsbHelper and it worked fine. Downloading through the WiiU should work fine from what I know, but the only method I can personally vouch for is using the helper.

    1) Just an error 2) I believe so with the eShop version (which this one is). AFAIK a disk version would work without CFW (though I'm not positive). 3) AFAIK no, but I'm just quoting what I've seen elsewhere about this. No real personal knowledge.
