Next Genshin Impact update delayed indefinitely

FRbjpXyUcAEMSvo.jpg

Popular free-to-play RPG Genshin Impact announced on Twitter it would be delaying its next update, version 2.7, for an unspecified amount of time. The Tweet made no mention of when we can expect more news on the update, but did ask players to "stay tuned" for more information coming soon. It also made reference to compensation, which might imply that players can expect some reward in exchange for the extra wait to get the latest update. While this is the first time Genshin Impact has had a full update delayed, they have previously provided players with free in-game currency after server outages.

While developer miHoYo made no mention of the reason for the delay, Shanghai, where they are located, is currently in its fifth week of COVID-19-related lockdowns. Many commenters suspect this is the reason for the delay, pointing to a thread about the difficulties of securing food in Shanghai right now.

How about you move to Shanghai then complain more lol
it's not about wether they are locked down or not. the past 2 years they have been cranking gacha shit out just fine. yet couldn't bother with even a release year. I'm talking about all the time imbetween when they weren't locking everyone inside

Because the last two years or so there have only been few cases reported in Shanghai not like when cases started to exploded at the beginning of April, Shanghai official fence off covid affected area, limiting people movement, people couldn't go outside of their block, let alone go to work,

the artifact rng killed the game for me 4mo ago. also hardly any engaging end game content.

also, for a waifu collector there are hardly any cosmetic skins 🤷

maybe once more regions are unlocked it might be worth coming back for the plot and the PLOT 🤔

Lol where is all the hate coming from? It is a good game for what it is, the Story quests, music and world are better than in many full price games.
its the fact you have to but in easily 600$ to even be able to play the game at a decent pace have multiple accounts to do manipulation and still not have access to the RNG lotto stuff they lock down behind a monthly model. the game is as free to play as a full time 40hr job is free.

Lol this isn't even remotely accurate. The game can be easily played through all content with out spending at all.

I've played Genshin for a year+ now, haven't spent anything on it. I've enjoyed maybe 60-70% of my time on the game when there isn't some boring event with pointless dialogue which just results in a lot of delayed clicking. The problem I see is people using this lockdown in Shanghai as an excuse for valid criticism such as the switch version not being released when it was advertised as coming out on that system. I don't think anyone is truly complaining about them releasing content when in a pandemic, not that there was much content to begin with once you reach endgame there's nothing to do besides level up characters and try to beat the abyss but this was a problem for a while. It's a casual game and that's all it'll ever be.

I was gonna crack a Chinese government crackdown joke, but then I saw Shanghai lockdown mentioned which is technically a government crackdown.

People are locked into their homes and I've heard the Shanghai officials have been throwing out food donations and residents are being underfed. Basically a regionwide prison.

Or you could just enjoy the game without falling for the gatcha. Just enjoy free game as long as it last, and don't act like you own it and they owe you everything. Of course, people who spent money in it... they will see that differently.
I played it (chapter1, no idea with latter chapters), and never had to buy anything with real money. you win enough, or even too much, you can play without spending anything.
if you want to get all the latest useless goodies in all flavors and colors, that's your own fault. Expect the game to end one day! it won't last 50 years to please you because you put money in it.

edit:
I played Path of exile (free 2 play) up to the end of the story, and THEN I put some money in it. I paid for unlocked things for as much I thought the game was worth, like if I bought the game 30$ (far less than a full AAA game nowadays). I didn't spent more money in it than I wanted to invest in. Just be reasonable, and only give as much money you are willing to spend. keep control to what you buy, try to not fall for psychological tactics.
Path of Exile is a good game though. Genshin Impact is not. The characters obtained for free through the story and the really low rarity drop characters are objectively weaker than the high rarity characters. Tons of great free to play games exist, like Path of Exile, Warframe, some PvP stuff like The Cycle, Fortnite is solid for a free shooter, if you're into Monster Hunter style games then Dauntless might be fun. There are a ton more too. Hell, Diablo Immortal is surprisingly solid too for a free mobile game.

Genshin Impact is far from good though. The characters provided for free and easy to pull ones are weak enough the mid story content can be hard. Since it has no PvP and barely any PvE co-op I wouldn't even call it pay to win. It's more like pay to progress. It's not even just characters you have to pull, but weapons and other equipment too.

It's a fun enough game with a decent story, nice visuals and brilliant music! Sadly, the resin, gacha and lack of endgame are its biggest hindrances. Also, when it comes to gameplay, I just don't think it's a game that's meant to be dragged on -- especially for as long as they plan to keep it going. If it were a one-and-done game with some replay value sprinkled in like a Tales game, I could actually see it being a pretty great game as a whole.

I don't blame the devs so much as I blame the decision-makers for most of this game's shortcomings. It's always a tragedy when an otherwise good game's potential is held back by horrible decisions that are often motivated by greed.

Also, the fanbase can be pretty toxic.

The game is quite fun and not hard as a free to play. What I do not like are the daily missions which push you to log in every day so that you get coins for the gatcha system. The story is OK. Battle system is very fun.

considering they still to this day have not actually released the switch version they said was comming ages ago I'm not suprised they can't even do an update for the existing versions
Lmao they delayed an update only once since the game has been released and there are people who would say that « they can't even do an update »
Also, it's because of covid. Blaming people for not being able to release something on time because of covid is actually quite shitty
