Closing the game stops distortion zones, and it did when I saved after waiting around forever, turning off the cheat and loading back in.

if reboot game resets it then it is not possible to use the cheat on emulator since the timer will not go down when the cheat is on

Yes, it's been vastly discussed in this thread. Pressing very quickly is the apparent solution.

I was just in a battle spamming Calm Mind which has 10PP, the UI showed 10/10 but the game was telling me that I had no PP.

EDIT: So the cheat should be refill PP after battle.
