Gaming [HELP] My DS cannot be charged after a HSABAT battery replacement

Hi, so i just got a new DS Lite 2 months ago. I bought it simply as to play a few old games, to have a small taste of myself when I was a kid. Everything was going smoothly until this very morning when a 2200mah battery from HSABAT (bought off of Aliexpress) came and I switched it with the original battery. HSABAT cannot even last 2 minutes then the console would switch itself off because the battery ran out. I tried to charged it with the HSABAT a few times to see if there's any difference, but no luck. So I decided to switch back to the original battery, and now the DS cannot be charged anymore. I pluged in but the orange light won't turn on. Can someone help me please? I had no idea what happened. Probably the battery from HSABAT screwed up my console. Any help would be very appreciated

Anyway cheap knockoff replacement battery not working/lasting a single charge is nothing new and while it popping some fuses or something along the way is within the realm of possibility it is not something I tend to expect (dodgy chargers on the other hand...).

For the sake of the obvious do check the pins inside the battery compartment. We have had a few of those go a bit iffy and if the new battery pushed them in a bit...

But yeah if you have a multimeter you will probably want to open it up and start testing components.

A visual check of the rest of the components is probably worth a go too -- I don't know if we will be seeing any EM8/EM10 style failures like on the GBA SP where the coils with those numbers on them sometimes fail (though usually with a nice cracked case on top).

I add a small note to what who preceded me have already said, as a warning to whom want to buy one of those. This is what a reddit user wrote:

"I ended up opening it up..... good grief! It's definitely an old battery from some other device, which they've put inside a little plastic cover to look like a DS battery. It's covered in scratches and wear marks from whatever device it was previously in".

Wow. I did not know things were that bad out there these days.

In that case random battery that may or may not be totally different voltage rating or possibly wired in reverse if the terminally bored types making the thing did not care to pay attention on that one.
That can cause all sorts of fun.

Hopefully custom battery packs get cheaper to make in the coming years (I had thought they might be there by now) or we get some nice charge chemistry adapters and energy dense batteries to make it worthwhile.

Thank you guys for replying. The orange light won't turn on, not even a quick flash. I've tried to look at the pin but I think they are really fine. So I can't charge the DS anymore. Probably I will switch to an emulator or buy a 3DS XL then. A bit sad though, I only had this for 2 months. I even ordered a clear housing case for this DS so I can have something even more unique for myself. The console broke before the case even arrived The games like Solatoboro or Professor Layton are crazy good

Nothing happened. The console wont even blink. I even tried to use a different charger but still nothing

That's probably one of two fuses (or even both). The battery you got probably shorted it/them. You can open the console, bridge the fuse near the card slot (or replace it) and you'll get the console in working order in no time.

Or give the console to me.

Hi, so what you said make no sense to me at all haha. I have no knowledge about soldering or all that mechanical parts in the DS Lite. I know how to open it though. I would be very appreciated if you can elaborate what you said a bit more
