You can, if you System initialize when going down major versions. You won't be able to resume from deep sleep though, if your burnt fuse count is past what the firmware is meant to run on.

No, I was asking if you burned fuses, because autoRCM skips the fuse check, right? So theoretically, wouldn't it be possible to downgrade with this and then use autorcm to boot into it (because it skipped the fuse check)?
What? You confused me totally.
If you upgraded using this homebrew or raj's "long guide" and never disabled AutoRCM then your fuses are safe and you can downgrade back to at least that FW version you've been before (or in other words the FW that matches your burnt fuses).

Sigh.
You can upgrade without burning fuses because autorcm skips the fuse check, right? Well then, couldn't you use this to downgrade and then boot into the downgraded FW? Normally, that would not be possible, but it skips the fuse check because of autorcm. So then, could you not boot into the downgraded FW? With burned fuses?

AutoRCM bypasses the act of burning the fuses. It doesn't let you use a firmware below what your fuse requirement is. ((see below))

Alternative bootloaders do.
Either way, running firmwares lower than your fuse count is really only useful for developers testing their software on all firmware versions.
I don't see why an end-user would want to do it.

I saw someone say reboot from power menu can burn fuses with AutoRCM enabled. is that true or it the same as power off + power on into RCM?

It can't. If autoRCM is enabled it reboots into RCM immediately. Shutdown on 2.0.0+ does a similar thing, it just goes into RCM after about 10 seconds (watchdog timeout?)

@rajkosto I have two more questions, after I use ChoiDujourNX to update to 5.1.0, what option I need to use to only play with my original games (also online) and without burning fuses, Stock or CFW option?
And the other one, if I enter in the Stock or CFW option without "PreventGCUpdate" the firmware of the game cartridge reader will be updated, right?
Thanks in advance

Stock. PreventGCUpdate version if you want to preserve the gamecart controller firmware so you can later on use it again on < 4.0.0 (if you've never ran 4.0.0+ stock before).
If using PreventGCUpdate, physical gamecarts cannot be read.

Okay, if I want to use homebrew I put the console on airplane mode and enter to the CFW option?
I suppose that I can use gamecarts on 2.3.0 with the PreventGCUpdate because it´s not needed, right?
Thanks

the only way to purify while inside Horizon homebrew is already implemented inside ChoiDujourNX (it might not get rid of everything though, it tries using the "refurbishing initialization" if it can).
System initialization outside of Horizon is planned for something else.

AutoRCM itself doesn't drain the battery.
The fact that in many cases the Switch doesn't really turn off but goes in RCM after shutting down is what's causing the drain.
Fixes are simple:
  • keep it in standby
    or
  • use hekate or SX Pro bootmenu and there the power off option*
* make sure to remove the USB cable / SX Pro dongle before you do so because attaching something to the USB-C port sometimes causes the Switch to "boot".
I tested battery drain percentage in sleep mode without charger and after an hour of just leaving it alone it drops down to around 70%, which should not happen that fast even while playing.

Funny, mine's been sleeping the entire day and the percentage has only gone down by 2.
Something's either really wrong, or your percentage wasn't correct in the first place, before you put it to sleep ?

thank you very much for your work, rajkosto.

i have a question regarding installing exfat without updating, it might sound dumb, but i am not getting anywhere. ;)

so, i have a switch on 2.2 and i used the choi method to install 2.2 with exfat, then turned off the switch, formatted the sd with my mac and put some stuff back on the sd.
now my switch wants to re-format the card since it thinks it's new. when i have the switch format the sd card, it formats it in fat32.
i tried reinstalling 2.2 with exfat, but the choi hb shows that 2.2 with exfat is already running on my switch.

where did i go wrong?

thanks

Its basically like a PC hibernation mode. The only battery used is what's needed to keep the system state saved for immediate use on waking up out of sleep.

Not sure how much it really requires.. just that it's very very low.

I'm doing good, just made my first drink of the day, so better now, Captain and Coke today. I had to cut grass all day, then get my hair cut. I messed with my wifey, she knew I was going to get hair cut, and I went and bought a purple dyed wig, and came home wearing it, she freaked out, thinking I dyed my hair purple, was funny.
