i remember seing a method about a fake "dummy" update, that would revert the console to the original firmware, more info on this?
I remember seeing a cure for cancer too, but, the World Leaders are still holding that one...

If you had read my post I said 3001A which is a model number could not be downgraded so I got a 2001A, come on man.
You clearly misread my post somehow. "some select normal Slims can't be downgraded" makes perfect sense, no? Some Slims are downgradeable, some aren't.This is not true well at least in America. I had a 3001A Slim (not a Super Slim, just a Slim I bought in 2011) that could not be downgraded. It requires 2001 or less to downgrade so I found one of those downgraded it now I'm profiting.
Really wish we would get something new. Is there anyone working on anything or is the PS3 scene just dead?
I was unfortunate enough to get a Super Slim. I mean, it's great as a PS3, but I really wanted to play my PS1 backups on my CRT (PS3 has AV out)
Maybe this has already been answered in this thread but i will just ask for proper clarification
Is the PS3 scene alive, dying or dead? or is it like the Vita scene? (which isn't dying but isn't attracting as many devs as the 3DS/Wii U scenes)
Also i am on 4.80. Any chance ever of this FW ever being hack-able? (what i mean here is that, are there active groups or people looking for exploits or is that just wishful thinking?)
Any answers would be awesome.

The PS3 scene is not dead, but sleepy.
And to answer, no, no chance for 4.80 to be hackable, since Sony's error was in NPDRM in 3.41-3.55. If someday the new NPDRM leaks from a internal Sony source, no, the keys won't be released.
the ps3 scene is still active, but not as much as it was during its heyday. there's talk of using webkit exploits to hack any system since the ps3 contains vulnerabilities there, but a lot of devs and hackers have left for the ps4 scene, so how many people r working on this is anyone's guess.
(or we need to litterally go hack Sony servers to leak them)
you'd need a kexploit for henkaku to exist on the ps3. I think that's the issue they ran into on the ps4. the webkit is vulnerable for userland access, so you just need a way into the kernel.
What in gods name is an Kexploit or was that a error on your part? (ive heard of exploits but never kexploits)you'd need a kexploit for henkaku to exist on the ps3. kernel exploit = kexploit
PS3 doesn't output 240p, even through AV. There's no point. I recommend using a PS2 or even a psp go. Both can output 240p and you'll enjoy the games at the correct resolution.Really wish we would get something new. Is there anyone working on anything or is the PS3 scene just dead?

PS2 even supports RGB if you have a BVM/PVM.
Good old Ninty. People are still struggling to hack PS4 but we already got the freaking TrustZone code on the Switchif i get a console now, not already modded what can i do?
if the console is the fat first model, will it give me any advantages in installing cfw, or is the firmware version the only thing that really matters?
if the console is updated to the last firmware, what options do i have? i am interested in full CFW.. (like the psp, wii etc)
i am making a thread because i want to know the final veredict.. i don't think sony will update this console anymore (unless for misc stuff, like removing some small thing) so i think it's relevant to make this thread
