"The GAME:PAD S PRO offers a premium, console experience for Switch owners. Ideal for playing at home, the GAME:PAD S PRO uses the same state-of-the-art Bluetooth connection as the Joy-Con controllers, ensuring full compatibility and a rock solid connection."

Full PR below:

snakebyte® group, leading innovators of consumer electronics hardware, announced today the launch of the Wireless GAME:PAD S PRO™, a superior quality, professional grade controller for us with Nintendo® Switch™ and one of the first third party wireless controllers to be available for the system.

Expected to begin shipping in Fall 2017, the Wireless GAME:PAD S PRO follows the recent announcement of a second wave of Switch compatible accessories from the hardware group and follows the Company’s tradition of being amongst the first to market with quality products for the Switch gamer. Designed to connect wirelessly to the Nintendo Switch using the same Bluetooth® technology as standard JoyCon™ controllers, the Wireless GAME:PAD S PRO offers the precision control of an authentic console game pad, without sacrificing the ease of connectivity and low-latency enjoyed by Switch owners. High-quality analog thumbsticks and digital d-pad combine with dual-vibration motors, delivering enhanced haptic feedback for the complete gaming experience. Switch owners will immediately appreciate the difference delivered by the high-performance build quality and familiar controller layout, while the integrated Capture Button allows players to snap their favourite moments in an instant!

Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries charge the controller ultra-quickly and the Wireless GAME:PAD S PRO also features a user-assigned turbo function to add further customisation to gaming sessions.

“After its impressive start at retail, Nintendo Switch has continued to capture the imagination of gamers worldwide and snakebyte are excited to deliver a truly authentic console game pad for those serious about gaming performance,” said Nick Repenning, CEO for snakebyte USA. “snakebyte enjoyed a successful launch for the Switch thanks to being first to market with a range of quality peripherals for the console and we’re excited to build upon this success with the Wireless GAME:PAD S PRO, one of the first Bluetooth® controllers to launch, and a product that we believe enhances the Switch experience.”

In addition to the Wireless GAME:PAD S PRO, snakebyte will also be launching a wired version of the controller with the GAME:PAD S. Expected to ship alongside the wireless variant the wired controller is identical in build and design, connecting effortlessly to the USB socket of the Nintendo Switch, delivering premium performance for gamers not in need of a wireless connection.

Why is it nobody can make a d-pad anymore?

I swear the last d-pad I liked was on the Gameboy Micro.

The PS dpad is like this but nobody complains. When nintendo does the same style EVERYBODY complains and i'm the only one who likes the dpad
Who said Nintendo was using a PlayStation-like D-Pad? AFAIK they've never done that; they've used either the same design since the Game & Watch, or slight variations (like the smaller one on GameCube).

Is the wireless in the name even necessary?
Are there wired Switch controllers?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

the last system with good dpad was Nintendo dsi (from Nintendo)

The Wii U and PS4 have pretty nice d-pads. I could use a DS4 all day, that things is amazing.
But the DSi and DSi XL's d-pad beat the 3DS d-pad in every way, it's simply horrible. I hate the 3DS's dpad way too much.

Assuming you're referring to the gamepad mentioned in this thread: It's a third-party controller. Nintendo has nothing to do with it. They probably wouldn't officially license it either, since it supports "other" consoles.
Are there wired Switch controllers?
Yes: The HORIPAD.

Switch Pro Controller can also be used as a wired controller starting with System 3.0.0. (The controller always supported it, but the Switch OS didn't.)

IIRC the Pokkén controllers can also be used, but since they don't have thumbsticks, some games won't be fully playable.

What? It's litterally a PlayStation D-Pad...
It's literally not a PlayStation d-pad. Look at it again.

there are so many controllers for the switch now..

with my wii u i was using the gamepad for all my gaming ,including SSB/Mk and so on.
never had much trouble with it, i got a WiiU pro controller free from a friend and it was only working when i had it plugged in the charger.

anyway , i was not that fond of the WiiU pro controller , i think it was too overrated..
call me nuts, but i prefered the huge wii u gamepad.

felt better to me.

but the switch joycons attached to the grip does feel kind of cramped, if it only was abit wider it'd be perfect and i would not be looking at the pro controller or these 3rd party ones?

i am not so sure, but i might eventually get a controller for better ergonomics, what do you people say would be the best choice?

the expensive 70 buck Switch Pro controller or one of these 3rd party ones ?
i know there is a hori one, and another splatoon one? and now this one.

there are so many, i guess the best would be the official switch pro controller in the long run yeah?

Noticed that there's some more Switch controllers popping up so it'll be like the Switch will end up having more controllers than games. lol

Great, so we go from a bad DPAD in the Pro Controller, to nightmareland here.
Nice move.
Split D-pad are amazing, you can't accidentally have it go another direction on you like Nintendo's does. I experience weird movements while typing with mine.
