How about you read the current threads? The FAQS? Or even just watch some frickin YouTube videos? What has this beginner done to earn respect? All the information needed to get current is out there. People worked really hard to write the documentation and make the videos. It's rude to just barge in here, bump dead threads, and not even read the basics.

I think he understands that. It's probably enough. :/

Hi,
I hope not to bump any rules, ask any stupid question nor offend anyone, but I do have some questions. I did my best to search and read the FAQs but, still I am left with some questions.
So this is the situation:

I have bought a wii-u 5.5.1 which I softmodded, and it works just fine. All games (which I offcourse have on DVD, obviously) I can run from a external USB HD.
Next step is to be able to play the most important games from my old Wii on my Wii-U.

My old Wii, still running like a charm, has a lot of games on its external HD.
What I would like is to add those games to the external HD of my wiiU since I won't be needed all the 4TB of it anyway.
However not seems to be possible.
Next best solution would be to run a selection of my old Wii games (stored on HD, I had the discs but I thrown them away) on a 128 GB SD card.

To be able to do this, I have softmoded the vWii. It runs the homebrew channel, wiiflow, (configable) USB loader..... I have copied some subdirs from the wbfs dir on my old wii hd to my SDHX card (which is recognized by the Wii-U) but.... I can't see any games showing up in any of the loading.

Recapping my question:
I have a lot of games on a USB external HD on my Wii which run fine on my Wii
I have a lot of games on another USB external HD of my Wii-U which run fine on my Wii-U
I just want to transfer and run some of the (old) Wii games to run on my Wii-U.

What would be the best approach?

Tnx!!!

is both drives are fat32, then just copy past the games from the source to the target.
If the source disk is WBFS format, then use Wii Backup Manager to transfer them to the target.

Transfer is from Wii to Wii-U. not from WIi to Wii. (different MBR signature)

You can't copy games from a WII disk to a WII-U disk and than use them.
It sounds possible to copy the games from the WII HD to an SD(HX) and then run them... but althought the vwii read the SDHX, it doesn't see the files, althought they are in the right subdir (and on fat32)

What is working is: putting a dvd inside the Wii-U and then loading it through Wii-flow TO SD ..... but I want to copy from HD to SD.

vWII still uses FAT32 among others to load wii isos form external drvies, the different wiiu format, its only to play WIIU games in it, thats why it will ask you to format each time a non formated wiiu drive its plugged, [theres an app to block that], but yes, to play a wii game on a vwii, you can use the same externald rive, you only need to hit no when formatting appears, or plug the drive once the usbloader gx its loading.

I see this question wasn't answered ... I know that loading a wbfs from SD is not as simple as it seems, you have to enable or install a specific Cios to be able to do that... Problem is I forgot which one is :/ will update this post when I find the answer

EDIT (MARCH 2020) [For YOU David that always forget this and always come back to this thread for the answer and only find your own question unanswered]

Simply use BETA52 to load from SD Loading
and BETA53 for USB Loading

Done...

AND future me, I love you, you're doing GREAT.
