Suggestion Change KYT's name?

Could we please possibly stop abbreviating Know Your Temp to KYT as I have explained before in certain parts of the world expecially here in Scotland is used by pedophiles and creepy old dudes when talking about children and young adults (KYT is Kissable Young Thing). Pedophiles use it as a code when they are out on public with other Pedo's and see a kid they want to rape ect. Sorry for the rant but it just really annoys me every time I see KYT being used to tell use about a temp member lol.

Yes but their may be people who are now adults that had bad things happen to them when they were younger who may get upset ect just by seeing those three letters. I know of at least one member of the site who this upsets as when something bad happened to them the pedophile repeatedly kept shouting at them aren't you just a sexy little KYT.

I think people from the temps may agree to change the abbreviation out of politeness, but this shouldn't be made into a problem.
I mean, if we stop using abbreviations because a set of loons use it to mean something else then we will lose the possibility to use the language to the loons.

Anyway, no matter what happens with this, I will proceed to report all of our comments in this regard as "Off topic" for deletion (as that is what they are anyway). Please, if you want the abbreviation to be changed send a PM to Dinoh or something, don't post it in the middle of a Know Your Temps (there, politeness) session please.

Oh well he refused to stop using the abbreviation which is his choice but is shows a complete and utterly lack of compassion in my opinion. I'm just gonna come straight out and say it incase it was not clear the member I was talking about earlier is myself and every time I see KYT it just takes me back to a time in my life i would rather not be reminded about. I have worked God damb hard to to move on from the horrific events I was put through but the one thing that always sets me back is hearing or seeing KYT so I simply asked if we could use the full know your temp instead but it would appear that is to much effort for @DinohScene or Dinoh simply doesn't give a fuck about how those 3 letters affects me or other people I know who have been through something similar. To conclude due to this I have been left with only 3 options

1. I ether leave the site
2. I never visit the gbatemp.net home page where I constantly see the KYT abbreviation

3. I keep visiting the home page which I use quite offen to see what's happening and get set back to a place I don't want to revisit anymore every time I see KYT.

I'm not changing it as KYT on temp here means Know Your Temp.
What it means outside of temp is unrelated.
I can think of abbreviations used widely on the web which mean something horrible outside of the internet.
Like I said, if you want to know the reason, PM me.

Also, leaving the site for such a small thing... sorry but, I'm sure the vast majority here thinks you're an attentionwhore then.

Honestly? If you're genuinely affected, a browser extension can just change it, a Find and Replace is somewhat easy.

I am very sorry. I understand something horrible must have happened to you and you are still not able to overcome it.
It really makes me sad this affects you so much. As said before, if a set of three letters is hitting you so hard you may end up having bigger problems irl, not just in a random hacking site.

Oh so the fact I was brutally raped when I was 14 by 3 men who kept shouting in my ear that I was a KYT and thus those 3 letters will forever haunt me makes me an attention whore simply because I am considering removing myself from the site for my own wellbeing and so as to not be reminded of said events each time I see KYT. Ok like I said dinoh you are showing a complete and utterly lack of compassion but hey it's all good I'm not going to say any more on this matter other than I pray to God you or someone you know does not go through something similar because if you do you will understand my point of view pretty damb quick. Anyway you do your thing and I will continue to do my thing on the WiiU forums.

Putting [Know Your Temp] *username* in a thread title would look odd on the front page.
Tags like [X360] [PS4] [KYG] [SNES] etc draw attention quicker then [Xbox 360] [Playstation 4] [Know Your Game] and [Super Nintendo Entertainment System]

Not only that but, you've registered on this site in August '15, KYT was running till pretty much the end of '16.
If, like you said, are visiting this site heavily, there's no way you couldn't have noticed KYT before.
And if it irks you so much, why haven't you brought it up before?

As for not sending you a pm I never did that because I was suspicious into why you would not just give me an answer in the thread lol (again that's just the way my brain works) and now I kind of understand why you wanted it discussed by pm. It's fucking tough I have talked to many people who have been through similar events and they all have one thing that brings them back to those awful events it could be a smell or a certain type of food or a number of other things and as I have said in my case it's a 3 letter abbreviation. But also just want to say pretty much the same as what you said Dinoh I have zero issues with yourself if anything i feel I now know and understand you a bit better because of what you shared in your last post I just wish I could do what you have done and lock those events away in my memory for good. Go see a therapist or something. Not one of the ones that just says "and how does that make you feel" and such. I've had traumatic stuff happen when I was in a NASA shirt and for about a year it upset me to see NASA or that shirt. I worked through it though, you can too. Not everyone can do that by themselves.

I agree with the staff, KYT is fine. If you don't want to help yourself then make/find a browser plugin that replaces KYT. Not like NASA would change there name right?

I also feel like Dino does care, more than if KYT would be changed. If it's just changed for your one issue then you can't make yourself better and it would cause confusion for everyone else.

TL;DR Life sucks, get help, Dino isn't heartless.

I do admit that certain things do highly irk me as well.
But I just shrug it off, after all, it's the internet.
If it's one place banning the usage of it, the other sites advocate it.
