Hacking Is it normal that cias take forever to install via FBI on "Ultra" and "Extreme" SD cards?

It takes larger games (2GB) like smash bros 20-30mins to install. is this normal? I don't expect them to be instant but I feel like the install time is longer than it should be. Even 100mb-300mb games take 5-10mins.

Is this the same for everyone else?

I don't know the technicalities but I do know nintendo are SCUM and very stingy when it comes to producing game consoles, it wouldn't surprise me if they used slow hardware to make a wider profit margin per unit.

Your duration estimates are almost double how long my FBI CIA installs take (4Gb game takes half an hour, give or take a few mins).

I probably did round up slightly high, I havent actually timed them. Bravely default did seem like it took well over 30mins though (probaby 45mins atleast). Going to do another 3ds soon, maybe I'll time the installs next time. but glad to see slow cia installing is normal, I figured I was waiting hours to install all my cias like an idiot and everyone else is installing everything in a matter of minutes lol.

Using a CIA from the same card and installing to the same card is always going to be slow, extracting data from the source to the same same destination is slow on most devices.

Whether FBI is optimized fully is another question.

I tried that once, it took hours to transfer a 500 MB file and then at the end it gave an error, turns out the transfer had been corrupted.

There are some process uncompressing and installing it to emunand slows the speed probably.
Also you have a better sd card than mine, is it extreme and is it a sd card microsd with adapter? Mine is ultra and it installs 1gb game in around 50 min, writing speed nearly 12 mb/s.

Because 3DS internal R/W speed sucks.

I'm not sure about FBI, but for BBM and devmenu, the transmission speed is limited to 1MB/s. Maybe it's same for FBI.

I'm not sure. But I guess it's a designed limit in the software because of the limitation imposed by hardware.

On my system i have a 39.63kib/s speed on installing any CIA... :/ this takes for ever

I have a class 7 8gb sd card and Hyrule Warriors ( 2gb ) took around 35 minutes.
So yeah, normal.

i have a class 10 U1 strontium micro SD card (original) and i installed pokemon sun (which is 3gb) and it takes 1 hour. it really depends on system tho

in the future just use freeshop for games. it can be faster sometimes

woah why is everybody getting such slow speeds? I use a Samsung 64GB Evo Select and don't have those insanely slow installing times
