Followed your directions.
  • Deleted VC game from console
  • Reinstalled VC game
  • Went into HBL from browser
  • Installed Haxchi with your config.txt
  • Restarted console
  • Launched Haxchi
  • Not touching or pressing any buttons
  • End up in Homebrew Launcher
The config.txt that the tutorial/guide provides is:

a=wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/homebrew_launcher.elf
b=wiiu/apps/wupinstaller/wupinstaller.elf
x=
y=
default=sysmenu

Basically the same thing you gave me.
I am not holding any buttons upon launch. Not doing anything. It boots into Homebrew Launcher.
This is getting ridiculous and I'm starting to get kind of riled up at this bullshit.

Its not bullshit :) It works for everyone so you must be doing something wrong. To reinstall haxchi you dont need to remove first, that will save you time.

So you have haxchi 2.4?
Config.txt is in sd:/haxchi/ ?
For kicks, remove USB device when installing I.e. make sure its on sysnand.If its on USB, move it to sysnand.
When editing config.txt use notepad++ for example not something like wordpad or word.

Try again.

Its obviously installing ok, but not using your modified config.txt for some reason...format or wrong location?

I meant more that this situation is bullshit, not that Haxchi is bullshit.
I'm actually really glad it exists and relying on it quite a bit.

I seemed to have had v2.3 for some reason but have now corrected that.
Yes, it is in SD:/haxchi/
I did not even own a USB device for my Wii U until yesterday. (Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!)
Used Notepad++ this time.

Can't get into Homebrew Launcher from Browser anymore.
Thankfully, Haxchi does that for me - for better or worse.
Nevermind, it launched Brain Age.
Browser exploit works again.
Installing.

[This line is indicative for a passing of time, as after this, I have tried reinstalling with v2.4 and a Notepad++ edited config.txt]

Holy shit. It worked.
It actually worked??

I am free, finally I am free of this madness.

Thank you, icw35. Thank you.

i have 2 sd cards.. got haxchi running great on the first, so copied all the files on to the second so that i could use them interchangeably, but get a -3 error when trying to load HBL on the second card. they should be identical, so just checking if what i'm trying to do is not possible

The second one is probably formatted as exFAT. Reformat it to FAT32

I have 2 identical 32GB SDs and they are working fine, the problem must be the format on your second SD...

I've encountered an issue with the latest rom.zip of Brain Training/Brain Age, when I tried installing it with Haxchi, it still booted up Brain Training Nintendo DS game instead of Haxchi.

I think the rom.zip on the Github page is actually the full ROM of Brain Training (PAL region), rather than a custom ROM used for the exploit. It must've been uploaded by accident.

Please fix the brainage.zip file on your Github page, it doesn't work at all.

My Wii U firmware is: 5.5.1-E
Haxchi version is: 2.5u1
Homebrew Launcher version is: 1.4

Uhm, wat? you probably didnt disconnect your usb device or something and you're launching brain age from there still or it just failed to install and you have to try again. There is literally no way for me to include a full ROM of a game in a 800kb executable so please, next time use logic instead of one of the probably weirdest accusations I've read in quite some time. As if I would ever include warez on my github lol.

Sorry about that. And as for the installation, it said that it had successfully been installed when I used Haxchi through the Homebrew launcher, but it didn't replace the Virtual Console game when I tried to boot it up. I did try restarting the console, it still made made no difference. Also, I'm not using any USB, it's directly to the NAND, and there's no USB plugged in either.

I am also having the same problem. I am on 5.3.2 spoofed to 5.5.1. I used NNU patcher to get into the eshop to download Brain Age.

Edit: Updated to 5.5.1 and now it works.

Hi! I already have a DS VC game, its Pokemon Mystery World: Red Rescue Team... Is there a chance this VC game would be usable with Haxchi in a close future?

Thats a GBA game, so unfortunately no. You will have to purchase a DS virtual console game, i believe there is a list out there already of the working games.
