Never connect it to a wireless network, never update it, don't walk past McDonalds or any other Nintendo Zone hotspots with it.

Essentially buy one and leave it in the box until it's hacked, as you soon won't be able to use it if your not updating it and newer games require an update.

That's hardly enough. Here is what you should do:
  • leave your day one Switch in its box
  • buy a new console every major software version update and update to said version; otherwise do not touch this console
-> be prepared if a vulnerability is found in a older version which cannot be updated to any more
  • buy every game (at least try to keep up with first party titles and polished third party titles)
-> be prepared if a game-based exploit is found and its availability goes down or its price goes through the roof
Please repost, so everyone is sufficiently prepared.

Step 1: Buy

Step 2: Leave in closet/cupboard/attic

Step 3: Wait a looooooong time.

Nintendo's exploit bounty serves another purpose other than combating piracy.... They're poaching talented RE engineers to design the Switchs' security system. My opinion is well have little hope for hacks within the 5 years. They're clearly pissed off with the 3DS debacle.

with that much money burned, it's just better to go the legit route.

I've been wondering about Nintendo offering cash for 3ds bugs. Maybe the Switch will use the same system as the 3ds? Why would they so desperately look for bugs now?

as said above, keep in a box... set it up the first time (in case the thing as a day 1 forced update or something) and put it in the box and don't touch it again
if you must use the device, make sure you put tinfoil all over your house, don't leave a single spot without tinfoil, to prevent switch to connect to free wifi nextdoor..
(ps: the governament replaced the shielding tin foil long time ago, you may need to go into dark net to buy real tin foil and not the fake tin foil on stores that allow spying..)
come to gbatemp everyday don't search make a new thread every day "is the switch hacked yet for free gaemz????"
buy every game released physically in the first day they are in the store (so you are prepared for the new cubic ninja, and get cart updates in case nintendo still releases updates in carts)

I think with the pokemon moon leak and seeing the sheer number of 3DS owners going online with this game who are capable of piracy was the catalyst, it fits the timeline.

For those who only want piracy (as the OP said), yeah. But others care about other things. Not necessarily "good" things either, some would like cheats for example...

If you have the money, then yes :D

Else:
Play nomrally without updating the console+not conenct to any wifi or hotspot or anything.
Dont buy newgames if they need soft-ware updates etc.
I will play normally...because I will buy it for palying and not for "oh..i wann play all games free, PIRATE"... come on xD
It's a game-console :D

Buy a switch and never open it. By up game that update you to certain versions so if an exploit comes out you can update to it.

Buy a different switch for games.

If you really want to hack your Switch you will need an axe. /s
Well, seriously if you are really into it you should buy two switches, and leave one in its original sealed package until the day comes (if it ever comes).
Use the other to play normally.

PS: You actually need to buy two, if you don't lack of patience WILL take over you and you will end up updating to play games and use it as intended.

Please no piracy on systems younger than 2 maybe 3 years.
And ofcourse no cheats at all.

But ofcourse useful homebrew would be nice, homebrew games and stuff.
And again yes, the wireless streaming to PC, unless the Switch supports Twitch streaming like Xbox One and PS4 does...

while others want to install a calculator and a not so limited multimedia player
heh, the only 2 usefull enough reasons to install hax not related to disc\rom loading (by rom loading i mean, free games, patching and cheating) are emulators and multimedia players...

Yeah, I agree, what may be useful are emulators, media players, homebrew, and region unlock if necessary.
Games, you can buy them, that's no problem.
And today you could probably have the entire collection as digital (perhaps?) so you don't have to carry around all the game cards. Well, if that was not possible then an iso loader app would be nice, for convenience, but almost sure you will be able to install everything digital, that's the trend.

The problem isn't things you can buy, it is things that are not available even if you want to pay for them.

Yeah, I didn't list the good stuff (like homebrew in general) because it's obvious for everyone who doesn't stop on the word "piracy".
And there is something you didn't include in your "disc/rom loading", but that is actually the number one reason I hacked my 3DSes: digital versions of games but not necessarily free games. I mean that I don't want to buy stuff on the eShop (because once it closes, I don't get my money back but I still can't download shit anymore) but I don't want to swap carts either. So now I can buy carts and play digital anyway (not saying I don't pirate too, I never bought FFE because I found out it was not good enough... but I'm still getting Moon for Christmas even though I've been playing it since the leak).

Noted all above. I plan to buy one new and the other one if there's a bundle.
Hopefully they follow Sony's update method, update through USB so that I can collect all firmware or buy games based on firmware.

They're not pissed they're just playing the game. Why would anyone give away what could be kept private for cash? On Wii U plenty of people just kept things private regardless, cash is an added bonus.
