Been out of the game for a while with PS1 images. What is the best method for creating a disc image. Program and procedure, please.

I hate to ask for help since I probably missed something easy, but when I start a retroarch core, I can't select anything and none of the vita buttons seem to do anything at all. It's not frozen (I can press the home button and exit the program), but I don't know what to do.

This happens to me ALL THE TIME! The only solution I've found is to start a non-RetroArch emulator, play a game in it briefly, then quit and go back to RetroArch. Dear RetroArch people... this is needlessly annoying. Please fix this. Please, please, PLEASE fix this.

I got it working by manually deleting the retroarch config file like the other user talked about!

Mention this to @frangarcj, I have no idea what you are talking about here and I can only test on a PSTV.

On the pstv and the ps1 core L2 R2 is not working right now ? On a dualshock 3
I have it mapped to it in control settings , it was set correctly by default but they don't do anything

And in control settings analog to digital type I have it set to left but you can't use both thumbsticks at the same time , am I doing something wrong
Shouldn't everything be set like a ps1 dualshock controller by default

RetroArch refuses to accept input from time to time. I'm not sure what causes it to do this, but when you start a RetroArch emulator it just won't respond to buttons. Some people have fixed this by erasing the configuration file, but that hasn't always worked for me personally. For whatever reason starting an emulator not in the RetroArch family fixes the problem, at least temporarily.

Also, I don't know what LinCrust is going on about with this "real thread" business; I thought this was the thread to discuss RetroArch. It says it right there in the subject: "RetroArch/Libretro Thread." If you can find a better thread for these discussions please tell me.

Anyway. In case anyone wanted to know, Bloody Roar II looks gorgeous in PCSX but runs at about 35 FPS. Adjusting the frameskip helps, but not enough to make it playable. It's a demanding game... the sequel doesn't run so well on GameCube emulators either.

after testing the pcsx rearmed on vita its odd how it seems to work much better on the vita than it does on my shield portable...so far I have tested crash bandicoot 2, resident evil 2, beyond the beyond, and Castlevania Symphony of the Night and they all worked flawlessly....I just wish there was a way to remove the black borders like you can with the built in ps1 emulator. also as a side note DO NOT hit the home button or let your vita go to sleep or the game wll no longer recognize the disc and just lock up at a black screen

Didn't mean to sound like a dick, sorry I was posting from a smartphone in the sub. Use the official feedback topic, it needs to be read by the developers:

So it seems like there's an issue using the move command with VitaShell. If you're using the QCMA method to get your games over COPY over the file to the directory of your choosing rather than MOVE.

This should help fix those issues where the file is not showing up.

If it's still not showing up, try using FTP.

Hey, I just made an Bin of my Croc disk and it won't show up in the retroarch thing. I have it right next to my rip of Asteroids and that works. Any idea why it wouldn't show?

Also where on earth do you put the bios file? Is there a preferred one? I tried the 1001 in 3 different folders but when I start asteroids it says no bios found. Thanks for all the help..this is the single coolest thing to happen to the Vita imo!!

Emulator don't detect the BIOS even after placing on the "correct folder" UX:data/retroarch/system/SCPH5502.BIN

Even without bios these games works great. Need to be added L2/R2 and rumble
Demo 1 - works great
GTA2 PAL - works great
Wipeout 2097 - excelent - but no music(maybe a bad dump of the game)
Wipeout3 Special Edition - excelent
Destrution Derby 2 - works great with some slowdowns

The bios file goes in uxo:data/retroarch/system/

Trying deleting it from your Vita and copying it over via FTP, again if you've done it once already, to the directory of your choice.

Can't get FTP working. I am using the USB method over content manager. I also tried ripping the disk and it still doesn't work.

I also had the bios in the system folder. Do you need to tell retroarch where the bios is? I am veryyyy new to this as in I literally haven't touched RA until tonight.

This is pretty annoying, let's hope they fix dualshock support down!

Make sure you have VitaShell V1.2
Use only UX0:/Data folder
Make folders in above
e.g FBA SNES PSX etc

For FBA copy neogeo.zip into FBA folder and make sure that the Neogeo.zip is a complete set.
For all other bios place in UX0:/Data/Retroarch/System

VitaShell V1.2 now has a select all for multiple file move and copy

To get Vitshell V1.2 if your still on 0.95 is to uninstall it and the henkaku installtion and start again.
It will install the new version now off the website.

I use Filezilla to transfer files . It's reliable and works. Just takes some time.
Oh, finally! Thanks to you and yeeeeeeee.
Now everything it works as it should. Certainly, though, that someone could say that the directories was changed drastically by the last builds ._. lol, drive me crazy for nothing.

Anyway, for who are interested to swap X/O buttons on RA, just open retroarch.cfg with vitashell, scroll down until 064/065 string, and swap the numbers between the " "
menu_ok_btn_"0" <--- "0" -> "8"
menu_cancel_btn_"8" <--- "8" -> "0"
Dont remember well if ok is 0 and cancel is 8, anyway swap this order

Make sure you don't use the MOVE command in vitashell, only use COPY and PASTE, MOVE seems to be bugged.
I have SCPH1001.BIN and SCPH5502.BIN in data/retroarch/system, I don't know which one of the two is recognized but it works, make sure they are called exactly that and not something like "PSX - SCPH5502.BIN"!
