I am looking into running some CAT6 cable for a gigabit connection, I was wondering if anyone here has done this and if there are any recommendations for the cable and terminations. I am planning on doing it in a way that looks "professional." I want to try and swap out a couple junction box plates that just have a hole with a coax sticking out to ones that are properly terminated with an ethernet jack. I'll end up making three cables, one long run to go through the house and two short ones for the PC and fiber connection.

Really anything rated for cat6a should work fine, like raystriker said make sure the measurements are good. My entire house is cat6a cables but I just used normal cat5e keystones and plugs lol. I get my stuff from GrayBar but you can check out http://www.monoprice.com/category?c_id=105&cp_id=10513

Measure twice, cut once.

I just want to know what stuff to purchase, it is not exactly inexpensive and I use the internet daily so it could give me quite a headache if it is done poorly.

Some Keystones dont need a full punch down tool, like the ones from home depot include a small tool.

Keystone to the wall jack to the wall, Modular Connectors for the cable to the switch or computer, if your using a patch panel then just punch it right to the panel then use a patch cable (or make one) to your network hardware.

Since those have ratings I think I will stick with CAT6 ones. :-P

Are there different plugs for different CAT ratings?

yes there are, monoprice should sell cat6 plugs and keystones.

This is like the cable I got from Garybar https://www.amazon.com/CAT6A-4-PAIR-PLENUM-ETHERNET-CABLE/dp/B00HED3882 its a lot of $$ as its CMP.

I did all cat5e plugs and keystones as I don't need anything above 1gig, my backbone network is 10gig via twinax (including servers to switch)as its all in one network rack I didn't see the need for fiber. Most of my internal traffic never goes above 500Mb/s, server to server backup does do almost 7Gb/s

Ah mybad I am used to using CMR/CMP as I work in IT for a construction company lol.

Nice! I have a set I have been using since 2000

Really I personally think cat6(a) is overkill where cat5e can do it at a cheaper price, since I had the cable already from a job I did I just rewired the whole house with it, I didn't have any cat6a keystones/plugs and I wasn't in the mood to buy any lol But since you looking at doing this new cat6 works and has room for growth.

Whats nice is I pulled all my cable thru smurf pipe/w pull strings so I can always go fiber to everything I ever need to.

$60 for a game that's a decade old might be unheard of on PC but actually is not uncommon on consoles
