Buy a Gateway + 64gb microsd = Buy 10 Sky3ds Cards.

buy another micro 64gb card for GW, Buy other 10 sky3ds cards.

along with the other limitations, region, eshop dumps, homebrew, etc.

worth the search for consoles 4.5

you said it perfectly & thus the sky3ds makes the already expensive $70 gateway card looks dirt cheap.

Seems odd that you have to buy another card for more games. Wonder if it's a tech limit, or intentional to force you to buy more cards.

If you own a gateway the only time you should ever consider buying a Sky3DS cart is if you plan on buying a N3DS. By that time the thing will have been proved to be fake or patched by Nintendo anyway, or maybe GW will have their own solution by then, on the chance it isn't, go for it, enjoy your ten games :)

I'm struggling to believe they mean it as it sounds. How are they going to restrict people from deleting games from their MicroSD and putting on another?

If you have to buy a new flashcart, you may as well track down a 4.5fw 3DS instead.

Ha, there you go, anti 4.5 guys. I'm guessing that their saves get stored in an internal chip with a relative limited storage space, thus the 10 games per life limit.

I haven't gotten any response from them and I mailed them since their card got announced here.

I'm waiting for a response as well. I think they will respond to Foxi before any of us hear back from them though. I don't really care though. I was excited about this cart when we thought it was $120. Hearing that it will actually be a more reasonable $50 to $60 sounds great. All I need is for them to clarify the 10 games issue.

How much more clearer do you want them to get?

There are probably a limited number of saves per SKY3DS hence you need to buy more cards. It's still an OK deal but its no GW in terms of practicality.

If they want us to buy more than one card to have more than 10 games then i dont think they will be 120$ because thats not something cheap compared with other flashcards. They should sell a save Dongle (like r4 dongle) to connect their card to our computers and backup/restore saves

That's the first I have seen that. Someone needs to ask if those 10 games can be replaced with 10 others or if once the games are written to the cart it is permanent. If it simply means you can only use it for 10 games at a time vs permanently, still not a bad deal.

edit: didn't see that up there.

Still doesn't clarify if it is a permanent thing or if those 10 games can be changed out. That will make all the difference for me.

If you will need to BUY more Sky3DS to play more games, it is obviously permanent. I don't think anyone will be dumb enough to buy another card when they can simply replace it. Please read the previous reply email that they have already stated so clearly.

Actually it doesn't clarify that at all. They could simply mean that you can only have 10 games per Sky3ds at a time. Like I said someone needs to ask if the 10 games, once on the cart, are permanent.

So, in short, this is doomed to fail. At best, a few testers will have the cart, and a few really desperate people as well. Following that, the clone market will explode with non-restricted versions after it's been reverse engineered. Seriously though, what kind of company would shoot itself in the foot to this extent? Sure, it's 10 games for the price of ~2 official games, but that's it. After being spoiled by Gateway, and even it's clones, no sane person will jump on this product. Just because they're the first ones to offer this on 4.5+ firmwares, doesn't mean that they'll have a safe, dominated market for any real amount of time. The moment the cloners get a hold of the cart, their already numbered days will be cut in half.

In short, 10 games at any one time, per SD, as a limitation of the FPGA's mapping abilities, makes perfect sense. But 10 games total, and then the card is useless for anything but them? Just no. That makes no sense, and is beyond silly, especially when saves can be dumped to the SD card actively after the game is quit, and periodically during play.

Anyway, I hope they enjoy their 15 minutes of fame. It truly will be short-lived, so they'd better enjoy every second of it.

ask them if you have 10 games on the card if you can delete one of them and replace it with a new game.

If they say no, then ask them why. You have to keep things as short and clear as possible when dealing with language barriers.

If you can only have a maximum of 10 games per card with no way to replace games afterwards, I won't be buying and I'm sure others will be thinking the sane thing. There's no shortage of 4.5 consoles on eBay.

It probably saves the ID (or whatever they use as ID) of the roms it runs, then when the 10th unique rom is run it stops accepting more.
