Haven't tried all the features of this emulator out, but I must say it doesn't seem to have the save game corruption that I was experiencing with Lameboy DS!
Thanks very much.

Is there any way to increase the speed of the speed boost? That's the only thing that seems a little weedy compared to Lameboy (which was really fast).

Still having read/write freezes quite a bit. Happens when saving settings most of the time. Happens more when exiting/loading larger gameboy color games. Doesn't happen as much with regular gameboy games. I tried reformatting and a different sd card, no avail. DSTwo with a 16GB class 4 micro sd with 16KB clusters. DS games, TempGBA, JenesisDS, and CATSFC work fine.

Nestaris GB (J) works fine on Gameyob 0.3 but don't work on higher versions.
We can see only the title screen. The game crashes when I press START.

Try a different rom.
I had the same issue, tried a different rom, patched it with the english translation patch, works great now.

Even has a nice, built-in border. :-)

It's more than likely an issue with the flash cart.
From experience with at least 3 different carts, I noticed that some emulators behave differently.

For example, Nitrografx (Turbografx-16 emu) works great on the r4i-sdhc-dual core-white (2013), had slight issues with the same, "NEW" version cart and another (I think it was the grey, "3DS-sdhc one, can't remember).

One fix I would recommend is deleting the emu and config, acquiring a new emu and creating a new config.

I know I comment on here a lot concerning troubleshooting, but I have lots of experience with it and it's my favorite hobby.
Troubleshooting emu / homebrew / rom issues.

Is there a GB emulator that can work on a DSi XL without Sudohax and without damaging the screen?
Wait, What?, It should not damage the screen, at least not for me, and I run in both DS/And DSi Mode. Can you elaborate on the screen damage?
You do not need soduku hax for GB on DS, all you need is any slot one flash cart with DLDI(also in your case, runs on the DSiXL)
but here you go, every gameboy emulator for DS (gameyob is by far the best of the bunch) :
Lameboy (decent, however not in active development, good comatibility, speed, sound)
DSBoy
DSGbc
GNUBOY
Goomba Color

These emulators, most of which are incomplete and the development of said emulators has been stalled, so they lack features and compatibility.

DSi XL apparently has a "screen burn-in" problem, it doesn't matter what the emulator is, and this is not in my control. Maybe disable the borders if they're being burned into the screen.

It should go away by itself as far as I know, but there's also a homebrew app which flashes colors to get rid of the burn-in more quickly.

If GameYob 0.3 does not have this problem, then it could be related to my various shenanigans with libfat and autosaving.

I found my emulators became much more stable after I switched to BAGplug. Don't really know why that happened.

is it normal for the game to randomly take significantly longer to save on occasion?
I sometimes notice, as i hit save state, that it takes up to 5 seconds for the saving to finish, when at other times, its pretty much happening in the blink of an eye.
at first i thought it might only happen when i first save (as i started several games over lately) but now i'm sure it does happen even if its not just creating a new savestate.

I'm not getting the same results - the first save when starting the emulator tends to take longer, the others are quicker. Behaviour could differ between flashcards (R4i gold here). I wouldn't be surprised if just the first save after loading a rom took longer.

I might do some more detailed testing of this myself.

Finally I replaced my "mushy" DS lite with a DSi (and a new flash card). So now it's time for more borders.
Ask me what kind of border you want and I'll make it. While you are waiting have these from SMW.

I made two different borders just for your options.
