Hardware I'm trading in my 3DSXL console for a 2DS!

Are you trading in a 3DS for a 2DS?

FireGrey - "Please explain"

Here's my explanation Pauline-

  • Don't care about 3D effect.
  • Better form factor for my hands.
  • Nicer button placement.
  • Don't like hinged consoles much.
  • Looks retro, almost Famicon like.
  • Smaller screen makes games look better, not stretched like XL.
GreatZimkogway - "Why exactly does this thread exist?"
Umm, why not, I want an overview on tempers look at the 2DS. Why does any thread exist) :P

Hey, if he wants to get a 2DS, let him get a 2DS. Everyone has the right to their own personal opinion. Even though I'd slap you in the face with a small trout for wanting the 2DS, I respect your opinion. :)

Why not just skip the middletrout and slap him with the 2ds? ;)

What the system reminds me of are those portable third party genesis/SNES systems I've seen with the small screen in the center, which feel ginormous and stupid in the hands.

But anyway, the thing is, most of the things the 2DS is made for, the 3DS already has, minus the entire system layout. Heck, you can disable the 3D entirely. I'd rather have a 3DS that has the 3DS disabled (But costs more) rather than an unfoldable brick I have to carry around that won't fit in a pocket easily.

Your decision though. If you find the 3DS fits your needs, more power to you.

Why would you trade something in for a 2DS? Those things suck.
I'm not sure how 2DS can be a better form factor for your hand.

Also, 3DS and 3DS XL simply has better resale value than 2DS.

The GameBoy has 3D disabled and has better resale value than the 2DS. (I'm not going to go out on a limb and say 3DS)

Yes, that was me. Whilst I'm not going into details, I will say... I fucked up. Never again.

I'm not sure how 2DS can be a better form factor for your hand.

Where the buttons are placed on the 2DS are actually a better position for my hands and won't give me cramps any more during long play sessions.

"Resale value not as high!!"

Not in it for the resale value, I still have access to a 3DS XL of my wifes if indeed I just can't do without it and I also like collecting Nintendo consoles.

One thing of note is that the 2DS is actually small, smaller than a XL and just larger than the OG 3DS. It looks big in pics but trust me hold one and it's different.

Is the 3DSXL firmware 4.5? If so... :wtf:

Nope - and I wouldn't of cared if it was, no interest in the gateway or any piracy, never did.
(If you remember I bought legit the Mario I got in trouble for)

Don't see the point in 2DS unless Nintendo are gonna release a separate 3D device to use on this console perhaps a 3D Visor/Helmet much like the virtual boy. There has to be some catch as to why Nintendo would release such a pointless console other than screwing money from a naive public that dont know how to use the 3D effect slider on normal 3DS to turn off 3D.

It's actually aimed at kids under 7 who by law they can't sell 3D images to. You'll notice on ever 3DS game it states 3D mode not for kids under 7, it's even on the box of the console.
What if little Jimmy who is 5 (Cough...28....cough) wants to play Pokemon X?

Just turn the 3D off is a good solution, however, kids will still break the hinges of DS systems, having worked at EB Games for many years, I know this too be true.

I hope you actually did spend some time trying the 2DS before you trade those in. When I held one, the L/R buttons were really annoying to reach

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik

so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think

They place married security chips onto boards iirc
