New PlayStation 3 4.90 firmware update released

fkfgor.png

No, you haven't accidentally woken up in 2007. While Sony has indeed pushed a new firmware update out for the PlayStation 3, making the 15-year-old console as stable as ever, the contents are fairly standard. The patch notes don't give any helpful clue as to the contents of the update, but given the last few PS3 firmware updates we've seen, it's likely just a Blu-Ray-related tweak. If you've still got your system hooked up, you can download the new OFW today.

Cinavia protection update as usual.
For what does Cinavia need updates? It detects infected material and that should be everything.
Luckily I've not yet encountered any of this rubbish.

It's not an antivirus, it's some DRM bullshit. Prolly new movies have newer version of the watermark and PS3 have to keep up.
I know what Cinavia is, and "infected" is the correct word for audio material degraded by this.
I've chosen to generally use that word in context of DRM because it is often the most accurate description. Didn't know that the detector needs updates. Well, fair enough then.

And rebug still hasn't updated past 4.86. did something happen to them? Did they bow out of the scene?

If I still had a working cecha unit, I wouldn't care. But since I'm down to just a slim ps3, I have to. Because if I ever have to upgrade or replace the internal hard drive on the system I need to have that update data ready.

Just go with evilnat, it's the same if not better.

Before updating it may be a better idea to wait for Evilnat Cobra to release the 4.90 CFW :D

Evilnat only works on phat models and some of the earlier slims. Super-slims and later slims can't use Evilnat

some of the best selling games on the switch are wii u ports (that are priced way too high

@ColdBlitz, i forgot breath of the wild released for the Wii u
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
$60 for a game that's a decade old might be unheard of on PC but actually is not uncommon on consoles

especially Nintendo because they only ever lower the price of games when they do a greatest hits/platinum hits/players choice re-release
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, and the HD collections released for 7th gen consoles too
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but they don't seem to have done any of those for the switch yet and maybe never will

I think we all forgot breath of the wild released for the wii u tbh

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, tbh the HD collections are more justified since they include more than just 1 game per copy
