Why I'm slow / news!

I know I should update the R4 WOOD Language thread... I hate myself for not doing it. (And now I have to sleep... I'll try to do it tomorrow, and start being better at it!)
The reasons I have for being so slow / absent from it, is:
1) I forget.
2) I have a LOT of things to do @ Uni.
3) When a lot of posts start to build up, it takes forever to update, making me postpone :(
4) I think I have some sort of postponing disorder... (I always postpone, and have always done it my whole life... And there actually is an explanation for it coming up, in the next section).

Some news about me.
I've become a member of Mensa. Whoop. I read something about gifted children, and how they behave and preform in school (and postpone stuff), and I thought I'd check my IQ values and stuff... turned out I have a bit above average and became a member of Mensa. Now I have an explanation why I've been as I've been my whole life.

Now I know I'm not stupid for failing certain things, and that has given me the confidence I needed to preform well enough to overcome it!
Yay!

So, is anyone else at the temp a member of Mensa? Should be about 6000 (considering you'll have to be in the top 2%, and there's ~300,000 members here)

I've been tested, and I do fit into the lower end of the Mensa range. I'm terrible at procrastination, and I have no reason to be. (I was procrastinating until three hours ago.)

I chose not to be officially enrolled in Mensa because it causes people to react differently to you.

Procrastination can be caused by a lack of challenge. Something feels too "easy" so it's not worth your time.. or something.

How do you mean people would react? People generally thinks I'm stupid for not understanding certain things at first (like uni-level maths) even though it's just not taught the way I need. So I feel that it would maybe change peoples view on me, for the better.

I'm a visual learner, and I hate abstract concepts like university level math. (I just don't process it - if you tell me the theory behind it, it's fine, but...argh!)

You hit the nail on the head with the fact that if I feel it's "too easy" - I won't do the task.

What I meant is that people tend to be intimidated by some who is a member of Mensa. They don't see beyond that, and it's kind of off-putting. And to make it worse, I'm in a very "white" university - I'm already battling the stereotypes of the uber smart Asian girl.

And the fact that my major features a lot of extroverts makes it hard for an introvert like me who has a different learning style very difficult.

I find the yearly banquet isn't worth the membership fee. :glare:

And IQ is just another potential I'm senselessly wasting, so a Mensa membership is yet another reason to beat myself up and nothing to brag about :glare:

THANKS A LOT ISSAC YOU ASS NOW I'M DEPRESSED :glare:

Hey now Veho, don't be depressed ;) How much is the fee in Croatia? €35 a year here, so it's not that bad. Also, there are monthly pub meetings (sometimes two different cities have different days = 2 meetings a month). We also get 6 numbers of a magazine.

I think it's fun bragging moderately about it though, mostly because I always thought I was an idiot. Now I have it on paper that I'm not. However, persons with high IQ are more likely to be depressed ... so yeah :/

I can't remember the fee, it was a while ago and all I can remember was that it wasn't worth it. There were meetups but half the people there were pompous dicks while the other half I could meet elsewhere, so there was no point.

The magazine was amusing but really really thin, most of it was the international journal, and half of that was available online anyway. I continued getting the magazine even after I stopped renewing my membership, as a part of their "look at what you're missing out on, give us money" initiative, but it just wasn't incentive enough.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
