The internet is SLOW!

This is starting to suck. Lately I haven't been too happy about all of this. Cause I watch a lot of online videos. But it's frustrating.

Basically what I'm saying is that you may think about going to get a speed test, and getting results like this.

But if you go watch some videos online and want to watch in HD, you get this instead.

Seems sites be throttling the download speed to less than 3Mbps which means... I have to watch videos in the worst way possible... NOT IN 60FPS. :wtf:

It sucks doesn't it? Reason why it matters to me, is cause I still have to pay for the internet if I want to use it. The price isn't gonna get a discount for this since it has nothing to do with them. If it did, then I be okay with that, it's called compensation. But that's not the case at least for me. Also sometimes I like being able to skip to certain parts of the video without having to wait for a loading screen every time. I can't watch twitch live streams at 60FPS or it will just not play smoothly.

Well, I don't know if every website is like this, but I know it's been this way for youtube and twitch which i do use frequently. So if you know any other popular websites that has been doing this, feel free to list them below. Some of you may not think it's a big deal, but that's fine. I don't expect everyone to agree.

I didn't say my internet speed was slow. I said "the internet" was slow. Websites being slow more specific. Is stopping videos from downloading at full speed, capping it to under 3Mbps. which is not fast enough to watch HD videos without buffers. That's why I posted the comparison pictures.

If 115 down/40 up is slow then I'm an airplane... dude, I'm LUCKY if I get 34 down/5 up and that's already plenty fast to stream videos, watch stuff, download stuff or play games online! Most of the time I get like 20 down/3 up on speedtests, don't be so spoiled, your internet's speed is just fine for even heavy use with 2-3 devices connected!:rofl2:

I did, if pages load slowly but speedtests are fine, it's probably the server ping or the page has heavy traffic, just try at a different time. Also, just restart your internet just in case to refresh the ping to ISP's server. With the lockdowns and everything, most people are just online nowadays so some popular sites will have trouble loading, happens often actually for some.

I want to believe that people read what I said but I have not been shown that because I see people saying things like

For one thing, I don't understand the reason for this comment. I never complained that my internet service was slow. I posted the picture to show that it isn't supposed to be. I posted the second picture to show the comparison of "What I should be getting" (1st picture) and "What I have been getting" (2nd picture) Which is why It's hard to believe that everything wasn't read before a post like yours was made.

Then when I check back to see a second post. I receive a more modest response that does show it was understood.

That's just how I see it at least. Though maybe I should blame myself for just not being able to use words properly. I never been good at convey what I want people to understand. I been told that a lot since I have been young. But best I can do is learn from mistakes and improve. So I guess I know better next time. :ninja:

It's fine, but about watching videos in the worst way possible, NOT 60FPS, little heads up, browsers limit the FPS of videos from almost all sites to 30, so even if the video is actually 60FPS the playback will be locked to 30FPS and you can't bypass that:P Only exception is Chrome letting you playback youtube videos in 60FPS just because they are both from Google and it's the usual BS where Google forces "exclusive features" by disabling them for all other browsers lol

Tbh I've noticed throttling too. I purchased a Minecraft server so I could play online with a couple of friends during the Coronavirus outbreak thing, and I have not been able to connect to the server with my phone's hotspot like I usually am (it's the only way I can avoid the 2000ms+ ping I mentioned earlier). Maybe I'm just going crazy though, but it's worked fine every other time I have tried it before the outbreak. Kinda sucks that I literally wasted $5 on a server I can't even use. :(

I'm so glad I have 600Mb/s now. Just wish I could get more than 15Mb/s UP though...

And I use a Chrome extension called AutoHD, and I set it to force all the videos I watch to 1080p.
