Hi, GBAtemp.
I'll briefly go over the subject in case if someone finds this article 1,000 years later:
I recently bought a Nintendo DSi as a project to get my lazy ass working. Right now I'm using KORG M01 trying to recreate Vengaboys - Boom.
Now, there are problems with this machine. I bought it for around £30, so I was expecting a fault somewhere.
Turns out that the trigger buttons are unresponsive unless if pressed a lot of times in a short space of time. That and the fact that the console itself looks to have been treated roughly.
If "a picture speaks a thousand words," feast your eyes on the pictures of the DSi in its current state:
It looks like a cobweb. The classic IPA Toothbrush does not work on this "grease structure". Sandpaper will probably work, but I won't risk defacing the shell.
Rust in the microphone port. Not the best signs of care.
The screwholes were previously filled with some sort of junk, thankfully I removed the bulk of it.
The top has a mark that looks like a fingerprint, but is permanent. No idea what could cause that.
Another thing I want to mention is that this DSi came with a "Spiderman 2" game. Looks like someone dipped it in a deepfryer.
So, that concludes it.
I later opened the console up to check on the trigger buttons. Turns out they were rusted and even the inside of the shell has a little bit of rust where the trigger buttons were.
Most of the marks won't come off with IPA and a toothbrush.
