Tales of the Abyss

I beat the game today and I'm really pleased to say its a very good game and I'm very glad I bought it. Gameplay was fun, story was meh, characters were good for the most part. Overall a good way to break into my 3DS. Well worth the

Don't listen to soul!
You need to find all the fell arm weapons and then go find the hardest boss in the game.

Or start again and face it when you have a good exp multiplier.
Also second playthrough onwards there's a extra dungeon.

What did I do since my first playtrough took 97 hours? XD

EDIT: Revelations was a good game had good multiplayer... BUT!

The singleplayer sure was good but it was also short (11 hours for me)
Multiplayer was fun for a while but quickly gets repetive and boring.

11 hours is a short single player nowadays?

Well color me shocked.

Yeah, especially trying to kill her in hard mode and above, but if you do, you can get that sweet Tatical Leader costume. <3

Actually you can get it any difficulty in the 3DS version. Or so I've been told

wtf. of course it is. otherwise i would beat a game in 2 days. But to be serious an jrpg should be at lest 30+ hour sin my opinion alothogh there are shorter ones.

11 hours isn't short.

I don't play constantly like some of you guys so an 11 hour game would usually take me ~2 weeks.

Short games are like 5-6 hours or less (the "less" usually falls on smaller indie or digitally distributed games). 11 hours isn't that bad, it's almost like typical platformer length. In all honesty I'd rather have a JRPG which wraps up its story in 11 hours than spend 30 hours on an incredibly long and overcooked story that starts to get more convoluted than anything else.

That's why I enjoy WRPGs that typically have short stories but have plenty of gameplay on the side to explore the universe.

How much content does the 3DS version have over the PS2? If there's nothing story related can I like go ahead and emulate the PS2 version? :V

From what I understand, jack shit. Bar better load times.

Go ahead and emulate the PS2 version.

I recommend the PS2 version over the 3DS version unless you're playing the JPN version which has atrocious loading times.

Pretty much the same thing except a more stable framerate and less loading times.

Soul you haven't even completed either of the games. If you did, you would know that the 3DS suffers from terrible slowdowns, especially during the Cameo battle.
Also Anise's spells have like a 5 second delay.
All of which do not exist in the original.

The font is terrible and textures are at a much lower quality. Also Van's model has a line across his head which shows that they didn't have much attention to detail when making it.

It's a good RPG if you want one on-the-go. But when it comes down to it, I'd take the PS2 version.
