Questions about oled tv

Hi guys

I still use Samsung lcd full hd tv from 2006 hehe I think it is first gen of full hd tv hehe and unfortunately it broke this year because it shows horizontal black lines so I most upgrade.

I may buy lg cx oled tv for ps5 and xbox series x which is the best one this year but I have questions:

Will oled tv burns after few years from playing games?

will it lasts 14 years like my old lcd tv?

is it worth it?

OLED for the most part right now is a marketing gimmick. Means there is an OLED backlight rather than the screen being comprised of OLED LEDs (some very small and extremely expensive proof of concept ones are).
In the future that will change but for now it will not do so very much.

Screen burn is mostly a thing for projection, CRT and plasma. LCD has a related effect but that is solved by turning the thing off every so often.

Will it last 12 more years? Hard to say. I do not imagine most of the screens will go the distance or have nice easy capacitor swaps like some of the older stuff. Most seem so very cheaply made, though at the same time there is also not so much to go wrong.

Anyway I would spend more time contemplating whether you want 4k, or 120Hz or extra features (never had a smart TV worth the effort, even the android ones, but some like them anyway and it is increasingly hard not to get one), or maybe comes with a bunch of ports (some TVs seem to want to come with two or three HDMI cables and call it a day).

As far as the LG CX itself then do be aware they are facing some issues

then it is better to wait for better hdmi 2.1 tvs but my tv is broken ...... and I dont want to buy any tv this year and a better one next year.

I might buy full hd tv instead of 4k this year ...........

Do you think ps5 and xsx will perform better on 1080p? like 1080p 144hz hehe

Burn in for OLEDs is basically a non issue nowadays even for gaming and is blown out of proportion. My samsung oled phone which gets the most use for hours a day and always has a static image on doesn't have any burn in even after a year of use.

Just don't leave it on over night.

I have the c9 which picture quality wise is the same as the c10, and any picture differences is very minimal that's not noticable to the majority of people.

And while I think its a very good picture it not that much better then my 1440p LCD IPS pannel. Colors look the same on both. If there is any difference then likely the color settings are turned up too high to over saturate colors. But if adjusted correctly and you pick the most color accurate preset, which is likely the movie mode preset, then colors should look the same.

The difference is that OLED has darker blacks and thats about it thats noticable to my eyes. And even that is not a huge deal breaker for my LCD, especially in a non lit room where black levels matter most. If you have a bias lighting or some room lights then deep blacks matter less.

Objectively Oleds are better. Reviewers may have all these statistics and numbers and testing to say they are objectivly better, but in real world use the difference are not huge and I don't feel like i'm missing out from a good lcd.

But I can't speak for you so you would have to see them in person and judge for yourself to see if the difference is big enough and oleds are just that much more better to you to shell out for the premium oleds are going for. You can save a bit of money going for a 4k 120hz led lcd.
