Yesterday I asked @Nikokaro about his experience with bloatware on Samsung Android devices. Because I have a new Samsung tablet (well, new for me: it is a used device). It is a Galaxy Tab A (2020) SM-T505 and came with a load of crapware preinstalled. I've removed over 100(!) packages from the user profile with the adb →
The people responsible for this should be punished!
There is a HUGE temptation to simply get rid of all garbage once and for all… but it came from a professional reseller with 1 year warranty for used products. Having that stupid thing say something like "Knox 0x01 void" is not an option while under warranty.
Well, Niko confirmed the presence of bloatware on his Samsung as well… and suggested my tablet might be suitable for playing PlayStation 2 games. Sadly his Samsung tab is not – only armeabi-v7a so the emulator doesn't even install. There is no harm in trying – or is it?

First Problem
The emulator AetherSX2 starts. But after looking at all sides of my SM-T505, I did not find a single connector for plugging in a Dual Shock 2 controller. Nothing. Playing PS2 games without controller? That doesn't work!
End of blog entry. Thanks for reading, see you next time.
Not so fast.
Solution for First Problem
Niko suggested using on screen touch controls. ← I will *NOT* comment on this idea.
Next idea: Bluetooth controller.
Second Problem
I don't have Bluetooth controllers other than Wii Remote. But they don't pair with Android devices. I've searched and found no solution – but it was possible on very, very old Android. Who is the culprit? Nintendo's non-standard rubbish? Bad Android Bluetooth stack? No idea. I also found some wireless PS2 controller, but it uses a proprietary protocol and adapter; not Bluetooth (tried it)
Hate wireless technology!
Solution for Second Problem
When wireless technology sucks, just use cables. A cheap USB controller and an USB-OTG adapter "Type A → C"……… and……… Hey, I can use a controller that somewhat resembles a Dual Shock.
Third Problem
The tablet is not powerful enough. Framerate goes down in more complex scenes with the voice acting going slooow. Awful. Garbage. Unplayable for me. Some people might be able to tolerate it and turn based JRPGs should be okay.
Solution for Third Problem (It *WILL* work)
