Phaedrus - Ravenous dogs

A foolish project not only does not achieve a result, but it also drags the man to ruin.
Some dogs saw an animal skin kept soaking at the bottom of a river. In order to pull it out and eat it more easily, they drank the water to dry it up: but they burst before they touched what they wanted.

[ Stultum consilium non modo effectu caret, Sed ad perniciem quoque mortalis devocat.

Corium depressum in fluvio viderunt canes.
Id ut comesse extractum possent facilius,
Aquam coepere bibere: sed rupti prius
Periere, quam quod petierant contingerent.]
