New portal box!

We used to have one "box" for each type of articles: 1) latest discussions, 2) member submitted news, 3) blog articles, and I even wanted to have a 4th one for blog comments.
Well... 3 boxes was too many already so shaun had the idea to have these sort of tabs to switch between the different types of topics.

Lol when I first clicked on this I thought it would be about the video game portal.

Great work, but something needs to be done because it looks like this to me:

If the options aren't aligned it looks a bit off and ugly.

you sure are using a small resolution :P
we'll use image instead (which will allow for smaller & better looking text)

Can you make the old/new layout an option? I liked having separate panes for news and new posts.

Don't mock the 15" monitor, it feels inadequate enough as it is ;) I like it though, loads nice and quick, tidy, stops sections you're not interested in cluttering up the page and to be honest the tabs running to a second line really doesn't bother me.

that's not planned for the moment, we're trying to save resources (CPU usage/load) as the site has been pretty slow lately.
glad you guys like it anyway :)

It's not that small a resolution, just 1024 x 768. :P

It gives the page a cleaner look, but I have a few issues with it:

A. Hovering over links now cuts off titles

B. I no longer have the option to jump directly to posting/reading full forums for News and Blogs

C. It seems I'm getting random database/mySQL errors with that and the blog section, but that might just be my dial-up

Not complaining, just giving a bit of feedback

Is it possible to see the whole topic name in the caption when you hover over a topic again? I would like that feature back
