My Experiences with NTRboot (magnethax!)....

So I was eagerly awaiting NTRboot/magnethax to be released to the public as I already had an non working Acekard 2i (spring broke and cannot hold onto the micro sd card) and a Monster Hunter Generations New 3DS XL on 11.5. At that point, I could do a DSiware transfer to hack the system, BUT I didn't want to deal with the two hours it takes to work on it. So I waited for the release of NTRboot...and yeah.

First, I updated my old o3DS to B9S. (It was on Luma3DS 6.6, and on 11.5 from an update.) This took a while because I like to do a sysnand backup. I then flashed ntrboot to my Acekard 2i (which read as a hw 81 one). The process was then dead simple. Toss safeb9strap installer onto the micro sd, rename it, and toss a folder named boot9strap with the b9s files onto it. Run it by triggering the exploit with a sleep mode magnet. Rename files and then you have a system.

Things I Learned:

0) I use neodymium magnets (stack of eight round ones from a Japanese dollar store). These stronger magnets are not needed to trigger the exploit (I actually had them held about an inch away from the system, and it triggered the sleep mode switch). I think one or two will suffice!

1) The older 3DS models have the hardest combination to press to activate recovery mode because of where the system locates the select/start buttons.

2) It's scary because you have no indication that your system is going to work unless you manage to trigger recovery mode properly.

That said, I did 5 different systems already. 2 n3DSes, 1 o3DS, 2 n2DS XLes. It's definitely easier than formatting an emunand and praying that it works.
