Probably going to drive me insane, but every person I showed seemed to love it >_> So I thought i'd get it. I was leaning more towards an NZXT Phantom, but decided against it...not too sure why. The Phantom is sexy.

If it ships from where I think it'll ship from, I should get it a day or maybe two after they shipped it. Which is great. So it'll be about two weeks before I get it.

Insurance, tax, shipping, and a pretty meagre building fee ($30), and i'm down $1700.
Worth it though. My current computer is...getting old.
My dad plans on buying it off me to save me a few $. Luckily I can easily pay off my credit card minimum payments so my credit rating will stay immaculate, and I should end up with around $90 in interest, but I doubt i'll take that long to pay it...i'm incredibly OCD about having charges on my credit card.

I'll be getting this thing just in time for Dark Souls. Woo

The graphics card is a Radeon HD 5770, and it's currently in this computer. I thought i'd save costs and just use my current card since it's still a solid card. I'll upgrade when I have excess funds to do so (probably grabbing 16gb of RAM with it).

Pretty sure that's more powerful than my Radeon 6770m, which is kewl :V Congrats man!
Need to get myself a custom built desktop one of these days, my eexperience with this HP laptop has not been the best...well, actually, my HP experience has been terrible >>

lol i built one recently
pretty much exactly same spec but a GTX 550ti
wow that costs ALOT! tho
i built mine and it cost me £660
i only went for 8Gb ram for now
got a 120GB SSD tho
i already have a 1tb HDD

sounds like your getting ripped off

Sounds like Canada in general.
I looked at every site I could and the parts seemed to be basically identically priced. Give or take 5%.

Actually even the US counterparts were similar after currency conversion, and shipping is atrocious to Canada when it comes to heavy shit. I'd have paid a pretty immense fee.
Didn't check buying from anywhere else as shipping would have just been waaay too much.

EDIT: Also the computer itself was around or less than $1350. I added WIndows 7...something or other which was another $150. Then tack on all the fees and shit.

It'd save me $30. Buying the parts seperately cost me the same. Trust me, I checked around. It wasn't worth buying them and putting it all together myself when I could pay a little extra to have an expert do it properly. I'm hardware retarded.
The site I bought my computer from generally just sells parts, but they offer to assemble custom PCs if you so desire it.

Nice computer aside from the GFX card (but that can be upgraded).

Wait if you didn't make it yourself then whats the name of the original computer with all of the parts? I wouldn't mind getting that and adding some stuff of my own to it :)

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
