I'm very disappointed at Nintendo's Launch Lineup

For many years with the exception of the DSi (which was just a small improvement over the DS), everytime I preordered or bought a new console or consoles at launch, there is at least one game that I actually want to buy for the console. When I seen the lineup I wept a bit because this is the first time that the launch lineup had no games that I even remotely wanted. Although there is a high chance of seeing something or a lot I want from the 3DS store and virtual console, it's still disappointing that I can't find a 3DS game that I want at launch. Almost all of the games I do want save for Mario Kart which may not even have a 2011 launch are released in the Spring or Summer. I just think Nintendo could do better especially with a system that shows a lot of promise.

Comments

While I personally agree that the Japanese launch lineup is fairly weaksauce, I can at least see some playable games there, and I can understand why they're launching with what they are. Street Fighter, Layton and Nintendogs+Cats are bound to see decent sales, Ridge Racer is a well established series with a fairly decent fanbase, Winning 11 is pretty popular over there, as is the Samurai Warriors or whatever they call it. Gotta understand that the lineup is tailored to what will most likely sell in JAPAN. Our lineups here in the UK and the US will in all probability be totally different. Personally I'd settle for any of the following being available at the UK launch:

- Starfox. I swear, I almost came in my pants when I learned about this. I've been playing Lylat Wars for over a decade now and I STILL love it. In my humble opinion, one of the greatest and most addictive games this side of Tetris. At my beck and call any hour, any place. EPIC FUCKING WIN.

- Ocarina of Time. There's a damn fine reason why this is oft considered the best game ever created. Because it pretty much is. And now I can have it in my pocket. Anyone who doesn't think that's the greatest thing since the invention of the blow job needs to seriously rethink their life.

- Kid Ikarus. While I never played much of the original, this immediately caught my eye with great visuals and the arcade style gameplay I love in Lylat Wars. Looks like a damn good game. Assuming it's not one of those you can finish in an afternoon and it has no replay value.

- Street Fighter/DOA. Either suits me. I'm slightly better at Street Fighter but I (being your basic model bloke) enjoy the jigglyness of DOA.

- Chocobo Racing. Recently acquired the original for my PSP. If I have to justify a game based around a chocobo in jet powered rocket skates then frankly there goes my faith in mankind. If you can't see how utterly fucking awesome that concept is then go play with the traffic.

- Any decent RPG. Preferably of the 'Final Fantasy' or 'Tales of' flavours, but to be fair any decent RPG will do fine.

- Mario Kart. Assuming it has new tracks. Or it's like Super Circuit and has a whole set of unlockable bonus tracks. For those that don't know, Super Circuit on GBA had the whole track set from the original Mario Kart as an unlockable bonus. Now that's value for money. Or value for memory card space for most of us, anyway.

- Dissidia Duodecim. Oh wait, that's a PSP title. But nice to know there's something coming out about the same time that I can steal if the UK 3DS launch is utter fail.

Japanese lineup =/= US lineup
I would bet money that Resident Evil: Mercenaries will be in there

But ya, no mario kart, no paper mario

Ocarina of time highly doubtful but possibly!

Plus I wouldn't mind layton from the japanese lineup (although I can't read it, and that's the point of puzzle games)

- Ocarina of Time. There's a damn fine reason why this is oft considered the best game ever created. Because it pretty much is. And now I can have it in my pocket. Anyone who doesn't think that's the greatest thing since the invention of the blow job needs to seriously rethink their life.
I don't think it's the best game ever created, simply because I never played it.
I don't get into oldies unless I did when they were at their peak.
-I love final fantasy 8, I would gladly play it over again, I played this when I was younger on PS1
-I didn't love final fantasy 7, didn't catch my attention, I didn't play this when I was younger.

Basically, your opinion on the game means shit.

Would you rather they delay the launch of the 3DS to finish remaking OoT?

I said that wrong, I did play it, but only when I was like 15. It wasn't as interesting as it would have been back then.
Calm down chaz

Oh.. Well in that case I take my invalid opinions elsewhere.

In that case you could always get a 3DS later if there will be no games that interest you at launch. Would you they rather delay the release of this amazing hardware? As a consumer you can make this difference by waiting it out until you see some titles you like. As for me I'm getting one ASAP and I'm pumped to play some Super Street Fighter IV on the go!

Dude, don't be a dick. Chances are, if a game doesn't interest you, than you wont complete it. It didn't interest him, and that's his opinion, so leave him alone and go cry over how people on the internet don't agree with you else where.

JAPANESE
LAUNCH
LINE UP

We will have to wait and see. As time goes on, and from past experience, launch titles between the US and Japan generally differ quite a bit with only one or two similar titles. I was a little aggravated at first myself seeing it, but still said it was only the Japanese launch list, not the rest of the world. Not all of those games will be localized for us (ie: Layton), at least not right away.

I saw a comparison of the Japanese and NA launch lists for the Original DS, and the launch lists only shared about two or three out of around eight or so titles.

Don't get your hopes up though. The big releases we're waiting for will hit Japan first. We won't be seeing them in the NA launch list. Games like Mario Kart and Kid Icarus are developed in Japan and released in Japan first because of it. It sucks, but that's how it works when the company's home base is in Japan.

I hope the US's launch is shit, except for one title. Because Jesus Christ, not everyone is made of money. :(

Hopefully that title is Metal Gear Solid, or Starfox, or Kid Icarus, or whatever. Just not Layton or Layton vs. Ace Attorney, because I still need to complete the Layton series before I play those games. I want them to come out towards the end of the year or 2012. I want the good games to be spaced out.

Metal Gear Solid is still being developed, as are Starfox and Kid Icarus. The Layton for the launch line up in Japan has no international release at this time, and Layton vs Ace Attorney is still in development.

How can anyone be disappointed when the U.S. launch titles haven't even been announced yet?

If the launch titles turn out to be similar then don't buy a 3DS?

I hope it turns out to be 1 good launch title and the rest are shitty too. Space the good games out to keep momentum going and give the consumers time to finish the one or 2 games they already have.

Yeah, I mean really all this bitching over nothing. Wait until they announce the launch games for our region and then if they are shitty bitch.

Best memory of OoT I have, after I defeated Jabu Jabu's Belly, I start heading back to Hyrule castle and the sky is turning red/black. I'm wondering "WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING?!" Then when I turned to Adult Link, I had to go out. In the car, the entire time "HURRY UP! YOU COULD'VE WENT THROUGH THAT RED LIGHT AND NOBODY WOULD HAVE KNOWN! COME ON!"

You know I own this game on N64 but I never got around to finishing it. Its the only Zelda game I never finished.
Sad but true.

I love their release list. It's really amazing! I'm going out there and I'm going to buy them all! I'll buy two of these DS consoles so I can buy the launch lists from all regions! Thank you Nintendo for making a region lock possible! :hrth:
