Dissapointingly, I suck so much at cooking that I will prefer to throw some money in getting the thing well made, instead of wasting the ingredients myself.
I know, it sucks, but it is not one of my skills. Sure I can prepare some noodles, make some simple food, or fry a frozen Schnitzel, but I believe Sashimi is out of my reach (I will try nonetheless).
Making sushi at home is dead simple. You can't really fuck it up except the end result may not end up looking pretty but it will taste just as good. Protip: You need a really sharp knife to cut through maki cleanly without crushing them.
@leon315 Rice turns hard when it gets cold, it's why sushi is supposed to be served immediately after making it. Not that it ruins the sushi or anything, it still tastes the same, just has a slightly less appealing texture.
