I applied for RA

I applied to be an RA on my floor for next year. We played a game today in the group interview where were are all blindfolded and have to find a long length of rope on the floor, make a perfect square and everyone has to touch it. So we find the rope and i come up with and idea of tying the rope around a chair's legs and everyone packing in and touching it. Im finish tying the rope and everyone else decides that we need to do something else with the rope for no reason what so ever. Everyone was shouting and i couldnt take it anyone. I felt around till i found one of my friends who has a very powerful voice and i got her to round everyone up and touch the rope, since there were only 16 of us, it worked perfectly. Geez. people are retarded if they know they are being watched.\

So i really hope i get the job. i feel like im well suited for the job and out going enough. Oh well. We dont find out till March 26. Effin gay. Wish me luck tempbros. And Temphoes. Well i guess thats kinda mean. I just didnt want you girls left out though.

Resident Assistant. Person in charge of all the kiddies in the dorms. Plus, you get the cooler/bigger room.
I hope you get it, being a RA is pretty awesome. Unless you have utter douchebags that troll people hardcore.

Oh sorry. Its a Resident Assistant. I help the Resident Director. I live in a dorm at college.

EDIT thanks Twiff. lovesies.

Resident Advisor. Basically the person in charge of your dorm floor in college.
In my college almost all the RAs are Asian and female. If you're neither of those, I commend you for applying.

Ha Demon i enjoy you. I am neither Asian nor Female. I go to a Christian University so we can do things like have girls living with guys let alone sex so i would get put in charge of like 60 guys. We have 2 RAs per floor.

You do NOT want to be an RA, dude. If you want to work on campus and still help out, join Security like I did.

Not much of a difference, but even though RAs are limited to the dorms their jobs tend to be more stressful, and they get to deal with the... how do I put this... "smart" residents, the kinds that light candles in their rooms, get outrageously drunk, get their ears pierced in the wrong places by other residents ( I got to deal with that one, there was plenny of blood :P ), etc.

If you're an off duty security guard, then that's it. You're off duty, out of uniform, and many don't even know you're on security.

EVERYONE knows if you're an RA however, so you'll always be dealing with crap.

I'm not saying be an underachiever, but the stress difference between Security and RA is HUGE. The only other difference is that while you're on duty as Security, you become the enemy of the entire student body, not just the residents.

Depends if you want to be stressed 24/7 and have residents always bugging you for random stuff (not the bloody stuff i mentioned, but stuff like wanting help on homework, their personal lives, writing graffiti in the halls, etc.), or be stressed for a fraction of the week and deal with the entire campus... which can get very serious at times.

...yeah, might wanna go find an off-campus job :teach:

I'm still deciding to apply for an RA position for next year or not. It would be nice to have a paid room and I find most of the people in my building aren't assholes buttttt I kinda want a roommates and I dont get that with being an RA. Privacy's nice but its not really the college experience. You know?

Having a payed room would help out the parents alot. And i get a roommate. More like i have to find a roommate or i get a freshie.

I dont know i have no car and we dont have all those kind of residents so im good. But i def hear you man.

You would not want to be security in my college (University of California). We have shitloads of protests all the time. Although it might be cool to wield a riot shield...

They get riot shields?! Not fair!

I get a radio, a set of keys, and a little flashlight if it's dark :(

Sorry for posting 3 times so close together, btw

Thats called every higher education school in the California system. Especially this year with all the budget cuts. But yes Berkley is known more for their protests. You can thank your damn hippies. lol

Ah so i guess this is like a role that each college has for USA people :P We don't have college here
(college is where you live away from home right? i always thought that was boarding school

zomg Riot Shields.

RA... Sounds like a nice job. Just pick one of your friends or something... If you wait for the freshie, who knows what kinda person it'll be.

@chrisman01: post like you want i dont care. Its a small school. Like maybe 1200 students at thats it. Really small christian uni. Security here would suck. Its an old man cop who does security here.
@zeromac: Yeah its kinda like boarding school. Only for after high school. You really need a college degree to get any kind of decent paying job anymore. Sorry. I didnt take into account that there are places in the world that dont have colleges. Us USA folk are so darn culturally insensitive we forget that not all the world is like us. :(
@Splych:Most of my friends have roommates that will be coming back, and its not like i can just pick up any old friend either, Im from like 5 hours away from home when im at college.

Aww man... Then just aim to pick one of the friends that aren't getting room mates...
Sounds like a hard task... To find a new room mate.
