Having fun with C (so far)

View attachment 94594
That code is pretty simple but hey, i'm just slowly going onto the "advanced" track.
scanf commands allows for keyboard reading and stuff.
printf displays commands on screen.
if and else commands.
chars, float, unsigned char etc.

Well, overally it's fun.
I'm following a book and so far i coded: Simple Hello World, your age in 420 months and stuff i forgot.
And yeah, C is fun. Everything which isn't javascript is fun.
See ya in next blog post!

Wait, so why do you need an IDE for that code? Never used C but can't you just write it in notepad and run it through terminal?

@VinLark
No, it needs to be set to path enviroment. And I have nothing to running IDEs btw.
It's somewhat better because it auto compiles stuff for me.

IDEs are so nice, why would you want to compile through a terminal when you can compile and run a program at the push of a button @VinLark ?

@Boogieboo6 because I would rather do it in terminal.

eh, you want to feel the "script kiddie" way?

V
I would to do it the easier way. gcc is dead brain easy.
gcc -o (name) (script)
./(name)

good choice in IDE btw.

also nice! we all start somewhere

I upgraded my code to tell difference between numbers (of course i did (z=100) instead of (z==100))
@blujay yay

when I started coding, my story went about like this:
  1. Downloads an unknown IDE that I thought was a good idea
  2. Writes "Hello World!" program
  3. Runs program
  4. Installs virus.
True story

@Boogieboo6 because IDEs are usually extremely limited in customization, and very heavy.
I don't want my compiler and debugger (~100 megs) to be lumped in with a text editor that can be 5-25 megs.
Personally I NEED a dark setup when writing code, where only Sublime and Atom can seem to satisfy me. I also want something moddable with community extension support. I don't want to limit myself to anything specific. I mostly write web shit, so obviously I'm not gonna use an IDE, but if I were to write C I'd wanna do it in the same environment that I'm used to, to where I have all my hotkeys and snippets set up, but you'd never fire up an IDE to write a web app.....unless you're using ASP...but then you'd be firing up Visual Cancer anyway.

"Customization". "dark setup" "too heavy"
Damn, your pc is a toaster. Even IDE's run on my shitty tablet and don't consume alot of RAM.

Way to miss the point.. I have storage and RAM to spare, that's not the point. Could you finish reading my comment?

You know, at this point, I'm really just wondering if you even care what people say, or you just post stuff to have people agree with you..

You think that I can't read? heh.
Also "Visual Cancer" if you can't use it on linux then why complain? :d

@Shadowfied I personally don't like dark setups because they make the highlighted code harder to read. When I turn on Visual Studio, I don't feel the need to customize anything. I guess that's from a year's experience on an uncustomized Visual Studio at school. It's good you found something you like though. Why do you keep saying Visual Cancer though? Is that a general hate towards IDEs? Or would you prefer to use something like Code::Blocks over Visual Studio if you were absolutely forced to use an IDE?

Visual Studio is on Linux though?

But that's like saying "Windows 10 isn't Linux, so why complain that it's bad"

*drinks Fanta*
you seriously can't mention coding without terminal here, jesus christ save me

woah. didn't expect petty people to come in trashing the OP because he used an IDE. It's personal preference, so why is it wrong?
