Guys... I need help with this damn compiler!

Well. I'm running Win10 so let's go:
I wanted to test some of my simple c language programs.
Installed mingw32 and downloaded gcc-compiler and it's library's.
The problem i'm running in, how tf do I execute it?

I mean, everything is okay but that crap gives me problems! I'm really lost so help would be appreaciated @_@

[I don't want to modify environement path for reasons, last time i tried that it didn't go well]
And before you get too excited: No, i'm not able to code shit in C. I'm just a small, starting user. I downloaded a book off internet which is very user friendly so far so...

Also, self-motivation is cool! I want to code at all cost.

Can you rephrase that into something i would understand? D:

CMD afaik.
Powershell is not used at all.

C
If they are really simple programs that don't require any additional libraries, then you can just execute "gcc my_code.c -o my_output.exe" in CMD.
(If it says gcc isn't a recognized command, check that the bin folder in your mingw installation is in the PATH environment variable.)

If some of them do require libraries, obviously grab and install the libraries using Pacman first, and then when it comes to compiling, you can link in those neccessary libraries with something like "gcc my_code.c -o my_output.exe -lssl -lcrypto". (that was an example of linking openssl libraries)

erm the fact itself is i don't know how to run it.
Excuse my super "noob" way of approaching this but i'm literally joel at this.
Should I cd... C://mingw/bin and execute compiler?

You mean, applying it to that path enviroment thingy? i guess.
alright hopefully my clumsy hands will not make a typo like last time

Compiling C/C++ in Windows is absolutely miserable. unless you use Visual shits, but that is even more miserable.

Screw your freeBSD. I'd rather use Linux Mint.

I mean, trying to use GNU tools on Windows is shit, just use the fucking userland on the OS which was made on it

some of the best selling games on the switch are wii u ports (that are priced way too high

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@ColdBlitz, i forgot breath of the wild released for the Wii u
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
$60 for a game that's a decade old might be unheard of on PC but actually is not uncommon on consoles

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
especially Nintendo because they only ever lower the price of games when they do a greatest hits/platinum hits/players choice re-release
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, and the HD collections released for 7th gen consoles too
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but they don't seem to have done any of those for the switch yet and maybe never will
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
I think we all forgot breath of the wild released for the wii u tbh
    +1
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, tbh the HD collections are more justified since they include more than just 1 game per copy
