Government is shit...

Hello
So... yea...
Today, I went to the drug store to get my medecine, like I do every week
And when the pharmacist brings them to me, she says "85.30$"
I was like "Wait, it's usually free"
Well, it seems like my demand to renew governmental insuranec on my meds is still in process...
After two weeks...
Seriously, usually, it takes much less times, but those meds are new and expansive...
So, I guess they smelled some money to borrow from sick people...

Well, I'm keeping all my bills, in hope I can be refunded later...
But hell, 85$ every week? I won't be able to pay that for long...
I hope they'll fix that asap...

PS : Yes, I'm aware that there are medecine even more expansive, I'm aware
And I still think all required medecine should be refunded by governement
I'm not talking here about luxury medecine, like medecine to help digest better
or medecine for dry mouth (Even if I take some sometime)
I know there are people who takes medecine that costs 35k$ per year... and it should be refunded imo...

Maybe for us, but people are losing money, TSA's getting lazy, ATCs are controlling planes without pay, and the FBI's losing workers to investigate crime. If this government shutdown remains for months like Trump claims, it'll all start going to shit pretty quick. It's pretty ironic that by wanting to fund a border wall to "stop crime" he's hurting airport security and the justice system in the process.

As far as sympathy I don't play that card and I don't give it away. Everyone thinks for themselves. I don't want to give my money to the bum that spends his life on the streets because he doesn't want to contribute to society. I've put myself in plenty of shoes, I've worn plenty of hats, psychology is my profession. I'm not starving to death I actually just ate. If people want to do their job without pay it's their choice. It doesn't stop them from looking. How you can blame every issue on a single person when he is cock blocked for trying to do what he was elected to do is pretty delusional thinking.

I wonder how RivenMain and DrGreed would feel if this was effecting the military. Would you be okay having no Army, Navy, or Air Force for potentially months? Would you suggest they all go out and get jobs?

Oh, and it's funny that you say Obama supported 600+ miles of fencing. He did in 2005, and then he campaigned on evaluating the effectiveness of said fencing and removing it if it turned out to be an ineffective waste and/or an environmental hazard. So, it'd seem your real complaint would be how ineffective he was at removing fencing that proved to be pretty ineffective. Instead, he focused on virtual fencing--ie using technology to try to detect border crossings--which turned out to be basically a complete failure. What succeeded was a recession that made Mexico look more attractive.

Of course if the point was to prevent illegal immigration, the place to build a wall would be across the Canadian-US border. If the point was to maintain a campaign pledge, Trump would be lobbying Mexico to pay for a wall. If all of this is just a show to make Trump look serious, the Republican led Senate is sure doing some great theatrics. Honestly, I'm still waiting for Trump to MAGA by pushing for a 91% top tax rate bracket like in the 1950s; you know, back when America was "great". Maybe then there'd be actual funding for a wall instead of more Chinese bound debt.

Sorry to hear, some meds are more partialy refunded in my country, some not. I agree meds souldn't be so expensive. I wish your health be enough strong and you find a way to live without medicine some day.

@DrGreed No interest loans? Funded by what? Btw, it's "funny" how government shutdown has become the standard Republican card. I mean, go with what works, right? Has it ever worked?

You mean "fake news" like Air Traffic Controllers driving Ubers and waiting tables for money -- https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...tting-stress-steroids/?utm_term=.d65233507ceb ? You know, they should all just stop showing up. I mean, who needs people making sure planes don't smash into other planes? I'm sure the airlines can be trusted to take care of that, just like they stopped 9/11 from happening.

Meanwhile, we could cut all that spending on the military; we can just rely upon our national militia of people with guns. Funny thing, btw. If there was an invasion and we did actually have civilians firing at the invaders, they'd be "unlawful combatants" afforded the same level of protection under the Geneva Convention as those in Guantanamo Bay.

Telling me where the "fake news" ends and the "real news" begins. I'd love to know at what point America's massive deficit without Universal Healthcare but plenty of other countries massive deficit (yet somehow often smaller than America's per virtually every metric) proves that such a system is unworkable. Ah, yes, because they go "over budget" like most things in near every government, especially the US. Or do you think that $5.7 billion will be remotely enough for a wall? *laughs*

I want to reply to this but all I can do is cringe because of how embarrassing you are.

The longer government is shut down, the more people it will affect in different ways. Sucks to hear about your medication, but thankfully there are signs that the Republicans are starting to fold on the shutdown caused by their leader.

Keep in mind that there was a budget bill on the table passed by both the House and the Senate in early December, and Trump had agreed to it as well. Then Ann Coulter said some mean things that hurt his fee-fees, Trump threw a tantrum, and here we are. Coulter might as well be president.

Wow, my meds are that expensive. But after I reach 1500kr they're free. (Renews yearly. So once 1 January hits, it resets back to 0 and you need to pay back to the amount).

Here in Scotland Alex Salmond who was our previous first minister (prime minister in any other country) has just been arrested for 2 rapes 9 sexual assaults 2 indecent assaults lol and that was the guy that was in charge of my country just a few years ago. He makes Trump look like a Saint.

@AmandaRose Trump has 30+ charges of sexual assault against him and he's been accused of rape more than once. He had a lawsuit against him accusing him of raping a woman when she was 13 years old, but she had to drop it after she received too many death threats from Trump's deranged supporters. His first wife also accused him of raping her.

Yikes a lot of shit hit the fan here. It does impact the military though because it is national security. So the military is in an agreement to Trump's wall. I don't take political sides, I just choose what I believe is best for my country. You attack his credibility well I attack your sensibility to national security. Our nation is very protected from attacks by sea, coast guards do an amazing job and I'm proud of them, Mexico's been quite the naughty lady though as we've intercepted calls from Russia that notioned an attack on American soil. If we are ever to be attacked it is to be from the mexican border. I'm not going into the moral of theft of land, because it will be compensated. But besides pearl harbor with the acception of the twin towers how much have Americans felt the outside world? How many women go to these 3rd world countries preeching for women to have equal rights only to be captured and presumed dead. Can we turn a blind eye to the human trafficking between america and mexico? Or does it need to happen to one you love to accept that it is an issue?

@RivenMain "If we are ever to be attacked it is to be from the mexican border."

Lol, attacks on the US happen from within the US. You act like a person getting ready to commit their first terrorist act isn't allowed to simply fly here and walk through the front door. A wall does fuck all for exactly that reason.

It's basically decided at this point that the wall isn't happening. Trump caved and re-opened government for three weeks today, during which time Congress and the Senate will likely work around the president to pass a veto-proof bill with no wall funding in it.

" You attack his credibility " I see your attacking mine now, gotcha. Sounds like wishful thinking tbh. As far as within the u.s that happens in all countries? If your remarking its a immagrant then they weren't screened properly enough to identify them as a threat.

of course aliens those sneeking across the border aren't screened at all doesn't seem to bother you at all.

well we have a year until medicaid is gone (hopefully the shutdown doesn't last that long or I'll be stocking up on firearms at this rate cause something's gonna eventually give weither a government overthrow or as simple as trump caving in (doubt it) people are bitching bout being furloghed yet they can easily pick up a civilian job to offset the cost what i worry about are the government programs that are needed by me and so many others will go i might be homeless by march cause hud will hault funding

I'm honestly not even sure if you're talking to me at this point, because I never attacked your credibility. The point is that a wall is antiquated in so many ways. You can go under it, over it, around it, or through it. The prototype "steel slats" they've been testing can be sawed through easily. It's just an ill-conceived idea no matter how you try to spin it. It's 2019, we could easily use advanced technology to secure the border at 1/10th the cost of a wall.

Here's why this debate doesn't even matter, though: The Trump administration only spent 60% of the allotted border security budget in 2017 and 2018. They left a ton of money on the table which could've been used to fill in the gaps in border fencing. The shutdown and border wall debate are just political ploys.
