Hi guys, long time no see.
So, I've been absent from here in a long time, but i want to share the most magical feeling of true nostalgia i just had.
But first, let's get back to 2013, when Dragon Ball Z: Battle Of Gods released to almost universal otaku praise, and i was stoked to see a dragon ball movie on a cinema screen with the original brazilian dub cast and all (which btw, is legendary), and, as a fan, i was really happy to see that happening before my eyes.
I was oblivious to all the impact that would have in my life as a dragon ball fan in some time, how naive i was...
Now, in 2015, the dragon ball community was starting to rise from the ashes and rejoicing for another movie, Resurrection F, which, in it's nature, sparked a rumor that i accompanied since it's inception on a coro-coro scan of the times: Dragon Ball would be getting another series that same year.
I was so happy, screaming to everyone that would listen, "DRAGON BALL IS BACK", "DRAGON BALL IS GOING TO BLESS OUR TV SCREENS AGAIN", a (now 18yo) man, with a childish smile, screaming that the anime that he was a fan of was going to receive a new series, and then, the name "Dragon Ball Super" appeared, and everyone was just as excited as i was.
July 5, 2015: Dragon Ball Super debuted. There i was, in the edge of my seat, watching a episode that while not so good on my present standards, would give and mantain all the goosebumps on 18yo me.
I mantained my skepticism off in the entirety of the first arcs, even screaming when things were shit, but nonetheless, watching and praising it every sunday.
3 years passed in a flash, i saw every single episode of the series, even in situations that made difficult to me to watch it, but i was there, every single week.
In March 25, 2018, Dragon Ball Super "ended" with a exhilarating and breath-taking last episode, which made me have goosebumps for the entirety of it's duration.
On the moment of watching it, i did have my moments of excitement, but nothing too extreme.
But then, i decided to watch it a second time, and boy, a feeling took me by storm.
I'm not a nostalgic kind of person, for me, nostalgia never really had an appeal, so, as i was watching the last dragon ball episode in a while, a feeling took over me, not memories, but a feeling.
Suddenly, i was a 8 year old kid, exausted after running 3 kilometers from school to home just to catch the episodes of Dragon Ball Z and GT with their respective openings in TV. I was at my old, unconfortable couch, pretending that i was goku and was transforming and shooting kamehamehas. I realized, that when the last scene of the battle struck, it wasn't 20 year old me watching that episode anymore, no, it was 8 year old me, appearing to see the spectacle that was the last episode of his favorite series, and cheering along for the heroes.
Thank you, Dragon Ball Super, you made me feel true nostalgia, and i can't wait for you to come back.
